SPORTS RECAP: Week of 1-26-22

Dundee/Bradford
Wrestling
The Dundee-Bradford wrestling team competed at the Wayne-Finger Lakes League Wrestling Championship, Friday and Saturday last week. The team finished 11th with 81 points.
Hayden Erick finished second with a loss in the championship finals to Gage Burgess. Kaden Labar was also second after falling to Nate Wazinski.
Additional place finishers included: Logan Snyder (fourth) and Michael Eaves (sixth).
The wrestling team defeated Addison, Wednesday, Jan. 19. The final score was 42-27.
Competitive wins were gained by: Connor Erick (pin 0:11), Caden Hill (pin 5:07), Hayden Erick (pin 2:19) and Kaden LaBar (pin 2:11).

Boys Basketball
The Dundee-Bradford boys varsity basketball team lost to Bloomfield, Saturday, Jan. 22. The final score was 54-46. Individual stats were not available.

Girls Basketball
The Dundee-Bradford girls basketball team topped Bloomfield, 41-37, Thursday, Jan. 20. Hallie Knapp led the team with 11 points, 12 rebounds and three steals. Kailey Yeoman added nine points with two blocks and five steals. Nikki Peterson scored seven points, while Mikayla Schoffner contributed six points, four assists, six rebounds, three blocks and one steal.

Bowling
The Dundee-Bradford bowling teams played Bloomfield in a match on Wednesday, Jan. 19. The girls won 5-0. Cassie Morrissette led with a 501. Other scores came from Abby Miller (485), McKenna Miller (467), Jaedyn Brewer (420) and Ellie Grant (376). The boys lost 5-0. Joe Nowicki had the high-series with a 389.

Penn Yan
Wrestling
The Marcus Whitman-Penn Yan wrestling team competed at the Wayne-Finger Lakes League Wrestling Championship, Friday and Saturday last week. The team was 10th overall.
There were two championships at the event. Jacob Eaves was first at 102 pounds and Mason Petersen at 285. Eaves pinned Jotniel Muleros in 1:48 to finish first. Petersen won by a 3-1 decision over Noah Wazinski.
Ty Conover was fourth after falling to Connor Nenish in the third-place match.
The team lost to North Rose-Wolcott, 36-27, Tuesday, Jan. 18. Competitive wins were recorded by: Conover (pin 1:11), Eaves (pin 3:28) and David Young (decision 4-3).

Boys Basketball
The Penn Yan boys varsity basketball team lost to Mynderse Academy 57-41, Friday, Jan. 21. Griffin Emerson led the team with 17 points. Brigham Hansen had 10.
The Mustangs also lost to Palmyra-Macedon, Tuesday, Jan. 18. The final score was 66-33. Carter Earl scored 10 points in the game.

Girls Basketball
The Penn Yan Mustangs girls basketball team defeated Mynderse, Friday, Jan. 21. The final score was 44-22. Sierra Harrison scored 15 points. Jammie Decker had 11 with 13 rebounds. Kaley Griffin scored nine points, while Hannah Parsons added five.
The team lost to Palmyra-Macedon, 38-35, Wednesday, Jan. 19. Harrison scored 15 points and Decker had nine.

Hammondsport
Boys Basketball
The Hammondsport boys varsity basketball team defeated Arkport-Canaseraga, Thursday, Jan. 20. The final score was 74-69. Individual stats were not reported.

Girls Basketball
The Hammondsport girls basketball team lost to Arkport-Canaseraga, 41-39, Friday, Jan, 21. The team also fell to Canisteo-Greenwood, 70-40, Wednesday, Jan. 19. Individual stats were not available.

Wrestling
The Avoca-Hammondsport wrestling team competed at the fifth annual Perry Varsity Club Wrestling Tournament, Saturday, Jan. 22. The team was ninth overall and had four third-place finishers. They included: George Drake (major decision 11-0), Nevin Davis (decision 4-2), Justin Palmer (forfeit) and Jeremiah Robbins (pin 0:48).
The team lost to Alfred-Almond in a dual match, Thursday, Jan. 20. The final score was 40-30. Competitive wins were gained by: Nathan Young, Palmer and Robbins.

Watkins Glen
Boys Basketball
The Watkins Glen boys basketball team beat Addison, 52-34, Saturday, Jan. 22. Cameron Holland had 17 points and Mitchell Pike recorded 15.
The Watkins boys topped Odessa-Montour, Wednesday, Jan. 19. The final score was 56-35. Pike had 13 points and Joseph Sutterby added 10.

Girls Basketball
The Watkins Glen girls basketball team fell to Odessa-Montour in overtime, Thursday, Jan. 20. The final score was 51-45. Jenna Solomon scored 19 points for the Senecas. Rachel Vickio added 12.

Bowling
The Watkins Glen girls bowling team beat Lansing, Friday, Jan. 21. Ava Cowan led with a 460. Following were: Aubrey Kellogg (393), Alyiah Clink-Bentley (387), Maisie Robertson (382) and Carly Arnold (338).
The boys lost 4-0. Brett Cullen-Pike led with a 423.
The girls also defeated Newark Valley, 4-0, Thursday, Jan. 20. Clink-Bentley had a 398 and Kellogg a 384. The boys lost 4-0. Mykel Cody led with a 589.
The bowling teams both fell to Odessa-Montour, Wednesday, Jan. 19. Mykel Cody led the boys with a 525 and Clink-Bentley, the girls, with a 387.

Boys Swimming
The Watkins Glen/Odessa-Montour swimming team beat Southern Cayuga, 46-45, Thursday, Jan. 20. First-place finishes were recorded by: Jon Spencer (200 free), Liam Smith (200 IM and 100 fly), Ben Swinnerton (500 free) and the 200 free relay team.

Odessa-Montour
Boys Basketball
The Odessa-Montour boys basketball team fell to Moravia, Friday, Jan. 21. The final score was 68-43. Cayden Confer paced the team with 13 points. Keith June had seven.
The basketball team lost to Watkins Glen, 56-35, Wednesday, Jan. 19. Confer recorded 12 points and Daniel Lewis had eight.

Girls Basketball
The Odessa-Montour girls basketball team lost to Moravia, 51-29, Friday, Jan. 21. Tori Brewster recorded 10 points and Keyonna Garrison had seven.
The Odessa girls topped Watkins Glen in overtime, 51-45, Thursday, Jan. 20. Garrison scored 16 points, Hannah Nolan had 13 and Mackenzie Cannon 11.

Bowling
The Odessa-Montour bowling teams defeated Watkins Glen, Wednesday, Jan. 19. The boys and girls both finished 4-0. Leading the boys was David Patterson with a 493. Additional scores came from Austin Hoyt (490), Zac Rounds (443) and Benson Patterson (424).
The girls were led by Jana Arias with a 530. Sarah Barr added a 473, Courtney Davis 416, Hannah Barr 388 and Angel Burlew 331.

Wrestling
The Odessa-Montour/Watkins Glen wrestling team competed at the Interscholastic Athletic Conference championships, Saturday, Jan. 22.
Lucas Hoffman took the championship title at 102 pounds beating Logan Bellis, 8-4. Tristan Harrington finished in fourth place after losing the third-place match to Trent Browne. Dominick Fazzary and Brody Williams were both fifth-place finishers.
The wrestling team beat Moravia 48-18, Wednesday, Jan. 19. Competitive wins were recorded by Fazzary (pin 2:45), Jeremy Miller (pin 1:21), Harrington (pin 1:34) and Mark Waterman (pin 1:37).
