Odessa-Montour school board 1/8/09
Meeting:  The Odessa-Montour school board met Thursday, Jan. 8 for about one hour and 10 minutes.

Attendance:  All board members were present.  There was no public in attendance.

Action:  The board approved the bond resolution for the capital reconstruction project.

Discussion without action:  Greg Dale, business administrator, gave a presentation to the board on where the budget stands.  He said they had budgeted for bigger cuts than what Gov. David Paterson’s has recently proposed.  Dale explained the governor’s budget shows a one percent decrease in funding and that is before the legislature passes it.  He added that the legislature has always increased the budget before passing it.

• Andy Morrow gave a report to the board on AccelerateU classes some high school students have been taking over the Internet.  He said two of the students are taking AP Psychology, a class they never would have the numbers to offer as a class.  The program is through Wayne Finger Lakes BOCES.

• Greg Conlon reported that he applied for a grant through the ARTS of the Southern Finger Lakes program.

• Board member Scott Westervelt asked if the dented locker doors in the boys locker room had been fixed yet.  Superintendent Jim Frame said he thought supplies had been bought to reinforce and fix them.

Bids/purchases over $1,000:  None.

Appointments/resignations:  None.

Upcoming meetings:  The next regular board meeting is Thursday, Feb. 13 at 7 p.m.
