FINGER LAKES—New York State Gov. Andrew Cuomo launched a new advertising campaign featuring a different spin on the iconic “I Love NY” logo, that also features the Finger Lakes wine region and Watkins Glen International. The Finger Lakes is shown in one of the two 30-second commercials released last week, through wine, vineyards, scenic beauty and special events. Also highlighted in the ad is the famed race track, Watkins Glen International.
“We are excited to see the Finger Lakes featured in the new ‘I Love NY’ campaign,” said Morgen McLaughlin, president and chief officer of Finger Lakes Wine Country Tourism Marketing Association. “The Finger Lakes has been a regional vacation destination for years and now due to growing recognition on the international stage, it is our belief the Finger Lakes will be a cornerstone for tourism to New York State.” “The new ‘I Love NY’ tourism campaign showcasing the Finger Lakes region as a vacation destination is great to see,” stated Michael Printup, president of Watkins Glen International. The premise of the new campaign is to have New York residents and visitors alike share what they love about the Empire State. The new advertisements are a part of a $5 million tourism marketing campaign and are expected to expand to feature other tourism seasons in the future. People can replace the heart in the iconic “I [HEART] NY” logo with their own drawing of what they most love about the state and submit it online to submit@followyourheartny.com. Submissions will be displayed in an online gallery.
