Republican primary election set for Sept. 13

BARRINGTON—Elections for the Republican Party state and local primaries are set for Thursday, Sept. 13. The elections were moved from Tuesday, Sept. 11 out of respect for the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks.
The Yates County Board of Elections said the primary will be only in the town of Barrington, and that there will be no primary election in the other Yates County towns. These elections will determine the Yates County Republican Party Committee members for Barrington.
Chairman of the Yates County Republican Committee Sandy King said there are four open positions on the committee, with five different candidates running for them. She said whoever wins them will sit on the Republican Committee. King said the committee’s next meeting is Thursday, Sept. 27 at 7 p.m. in the Penn Yan Village Hall.
The polling site will be at Barrington Town Hall, located at 4424 Bath Road in Penn Yan, and will be open from noon to 9 p.m. The board said Wednesday, Sept. 12 is the last day to apply in person for an absentee ballot. These can be acquired at the Board of Elections at 417 Liberty St. in Penn Yan. For more, contact Republican Commissioner Amy Daines at the Yates County Board of Elections at 315-536-5135.
