Dundee finishes regular season 4-3

DUNDEE--The Dundee varsity football team finished their regular season with a 4-3 record after a victory against the Midlakes Screaming Eagles Saturday, Oct. 17. The final score was 38-26.
Neither team scored on their opening offensive series.
Dundee quarterback Austin Thompson scored on an 11-yard rush to take a 6-0 lead, capping off a two-play drive that was set up by a long run by running back Johvannie Andrades.
After the Scots defense forced a three-and-out, the offense took another scoring drive into the second quarter, capping it off with a Thompson touchdown pass to Devin Jensen. The Scots were up 12-0 at the start of the second quarter.
The Screaming Eagles ran the ball into Dundee territory on their next offensive series. They scored with 5:09 left in the half to bring the score to 12-6.
The Dundee offense punted after a three-and-out. Midlakes completed a deep pass on third and long into Dundees territory, scoring on a quarterback keeper to tie the game at 12-12. Midlakes recovered an onside kick with 37 seconds left in the half, but were unable to score before halftime.
Midlakes received the second half kickoff at their 25-yard line, but were forced to punt. A Dundee fumble recovered by Midlakes set up a first and goal. The visiting team took the lead after two rushes, 18-12.
Andrades sparked Dundee's offense on the next drive, converting a direct snap fake punt on fourth down and running to the goal line on the following play. Thompson punched it in on a one-yard rush to take a 19-18 lead following a successful extra-point attempt.
Midlakes again drove into Dundee territory on their next offensive series as time expired in the third quarter. Dundee's defense forced and recovered a fumble on the first play of the fourth quarter, taking over on their own 40-yard line. Andrades took a handoff to the house with a 56-yard rush to give the Scots a 25-18 lead.
Damon Empson picked off a pitch on an Eagles quarterback option play to give the Scots the ball in Midlakes territory. Thompson took it in himself a few plays later to increase the Dundee lead to 31-18 with 8:39 left in the game.
Ryan Sprague forced a fumble on the following defensive drive to set up another Dundee score. The game ended with a final score of 38-26, Dundee.
Andrades led the offense with 195 yards on 20 carries with two touchdowns. Thompson added 32 yards on four carries for three touchdowns, along with completing three of nine for 20 yards, one touchdown and one interception through the air. Empson led the defense with eight tackles and one fumble recovery, while Sprague and Jared Jayne each added six tackles. Sprague also had two and a half sacks and a forced fumble.
