Barnes, Catlin win primary vote

NEW YORK STATE--Incumbent Legislator Phil Barnes was named the winner of the Republican primary election for the Schuyler County Legislature Tuesday, Sept. 9. Barnes secured the victory over Angeline Franzese during the primary, winning 102 votes to 69. However, Franzese will still be running to oppose Barnes during the November general election.
Robert Catlin Sr. was named the winner of a close primary election for the Jerusalem town council Tuesday, Sept. 9. Catlin secured a six-vote victory over Daryl Jones during the primary, winning 50 votes to 44. The position is to fill an unexpired term on the council.
In Yates County, Zephyr Teachout received the most votes for governor with 201, over incumbent Andrew Cuomo's 121 and Randy Credico's five. For the lieutenant governor position, Timothy Wu received the most Yates County votes with 161, while Kathy Hochul received 153.
In Schuyler County, Zephyr Teachout received the most votes for governor with 229, over incumbent Andrew Cuomo's 129 and Randy Credico's 19. However, Cuomo won the primary election statewide with 62 percent of the vote.
For the lieutenant governor position, Timothy Wu received the most Schuyler County votes with 203, while Kathy Hochul received 149. However, Hochul won the statewide primary with 60 percent of the vote.
