Barrington town board 10/28/09

Meeting:  The Barrington town board met Wednesday, Oct. 28 for 25 minutes.
Attendance:  All board members were present.  There were six members of the public in the audience.
Action:  None.
Discussion without action:  The board discussed adding onto the job description for the watershed and building inspector positions because Gary Boardman is retiring.  Board member Freeman Freeman said he met with the Yates County personnel department for a job description.  He said the one the town had from 1998 is the most current one.  He explained it is a generic one that municipalities can add onto, making it specific for the town or village.  Freeman and board member Fred Wright said they would talk with Boardman about what specifics should be added to the description.  Freeman also said he would talk with the personnel department again to see if the town could start advertising for Boardman’s jobs with that description.  He would also see if the town can advertise just its intent to seek applications.  Superintendent Eileen Farnan asked the board if they wanted to wait until the job description was updated.  Board member Nate Olney and Wright both agreed to go ahead, if the personnel department approved.
• Farnan read a letter from the Dundee Public Library thanking the town for the $3,000 donation.
• Farnan also said the Yates County task force released its review of the Department of Environmental Conservation’s proposed Marcellus Shale drilling regulations.  She explained it would go before the county legislature and if it is approved would be sent to the state.
Upcoming meetings:  The next regular board meeting will be Wednesday, Nov. 11, at 7 p.m.
