Barrington town board 6/23/10

Meeting:  The Barrington town board met Wednesday, June 23 for one hour and 40 minutes.
Attendance:  Bruce Castner was the only board member absent.  There were two members of the public in the audience.
Action:  The board approved holding a public hearing for creating a building fee schedule at the next meeting, Wednesday, July 28 at 7 p.m.  Barrington currently does not charge fees for building permits, which most municipalities do.
• The board agreed to mail a letter to the Penn Yan fire department requesting a detailed account of expenses over the last three years.  The letter asks for comparisons for budgeted versus actual expenses.  The letter also asks for a breakdown of fire calls to Barrington.
Discussion without action:  Sue Lange told the town board that the planning board had completed the State Environmental Quality Review (SEQR) for the sign law amendment.  She added that is has now been passed on to the Yates County Planning Board.
• Highway Superintendent Steve Wheeler told the board that Barrington would be getting the same amount of Consolidated Highway Improvement Program (CHIPs) funds as last year.  Wheeler received a letter from the New York State Department of Transportation saying the town would get a total of $111,947, available in July.
Upcoming meetings:  The next regular board meeting will be Wednesday, July 28 at 7 p.m.
