Bason is 'Top Responder' and 'Fireman of the Year'

HAMMONDSPORT-The Wayne Fire Department held the "Past Chiefs Banquet for 2016," Saturday, March 18 at the Glenn H. Curtiss Museum in Hammondsport. Volunteers were honored for their service as firefighters and/or emergency medical personnel. Second Assistant Christopher Bason was named Fireman of the Year. He is pictured with First Assistant Chuck Swarthout and Chief Bryan Starkweather.
The full list of award winners included: EMT of the year: Mary Starkweather (pictured above). Fireman's choice: Kyle Dencenburg. Top responders: Chris Bason, Bill Bason, Kenny Becker, Mary Starkweather and Larry Day. Five years of service: Jonathan Cook, Lindsey Cook, Rachael Draper, Kyle Dencenburg and Lou Wisely. 10 years of service: Luke Dickerson, Mary Starkweather and Bryan Starkweather. 30 years of service: Gerald Warren. Fire commissioners John McIntosh (24 years) and Diana McIntosh (26 years). Presidents award: Earl Provorse. Chiefs award: Larry Day Jr. An "In Memory" recognition was given to Clifford Sechrist "Hap" for a donation to the department.
