Butchko won't comment on funds

WAYNE—After former Wayne Supervisor Dawn Dowdle brought financial records concerns to the board, current Supervisor Steve Butchko said he had no comment, both at and after the Tuesday, May 11, town board meeting.
Butchko did say that the town bookkeeper is looking into it.  At the May 11, town board meeting Dowdle listed seven missing funds, and one discrepancy, in the supervisor’s budget report.  Dowdle said they are:
• $60,000 from the Sylvan Beach/Waneta Road Reserve Fund.
• $208 from Capital Projects—History.
• $50 from petty cash.
• $19,000 from Prepaid Expenses—General.
• $20,000 from Prepaid Expenses—Highway.
• $47,250 from Re-val Reserve.
• $10,646 from Town Hall Water System Reserve.
She added there was also a $56,480 discrepancy in the Building Reserve Fund.
At the meeting, no comment was made by the board on what Dowdle said.  When later asked, Butchko said he can’t comment, but Bookkeeper Maureen Kurtz is looking into it.  He said he’d be able to speak after that.
“I can only hope the board will have a response at the next board meeting,” said Dowdle.  She explained the unlisted funds in the budget report where brought to her attention by someone else.  Dowdle added she had not heard anything new.
