Catlin matter adjourned until Feb. 12

PENN YAN--Elizabeth Catlin has been charged with the state department of education "felony of unauthorized practice of profession."
After a Penn Yan court date Monday, Jan. 7, the matter has been adjourned to Tuesday, Feb. 12.
Catlin's attorney, David R. Morabito, said after the Monday appearance of counsel, "More than 100 people turned out to support Catlin Monday evening. That is unusual to see such an outpouring of support."
Morabito continued, "Elizabeth has been accused of being a midwife. At the conclusion of the court proceeding Monday I talked with the supporters of Elizabeth in the court's hallway. It is an honor and privilege to represent her."
"Yates County has very fair judges and district attorneys and I believe my client will be treated very fairly," Morabito said. "The charge (unauthorized practice) is a very complex charge and there are many issues between the licensing and requirements."
"I will be addressing all of those issues at a later date."
