Penn Yan Academy will celebrate the seniors at the graduation event Friday, June 24 at 7 p.m. The ceremony is planned to take place on the athletic field with speeches by school leaders and the conferral of diplomas. Penn Yan does not name a valedictorian or salutatorian.
Watkins Glen seniors gathered for their class photo last week in preparation for the graduation celebration Saturday, June 25. The event will begin at 10 a.m. on Alumni Field. The valedictorian for the class of 2022 is Matthew Sandritter and the salutatorian is Douglas DiGregorio.
Commencements have been moved outdoors in recent years after the COVID-19 pandemic. Many schools have continued to take advantage of the extra space outdoor ceremonies provide, with the option of moving inside if weather requires.
