DeNardo will face Leszyk in election

WATKINS GLEN--The Watkins Glen village election, March 19, will feature two new mayoral candidates along with three people vying for two trustee seats.
Watkins Glen Village Trustee Laurie DeNardo has been selected by Democrats to run for the mayor's position and will face the Republican candidate Luke Leszyk. Independent candidates also have until Feb. 13 to file paperwork for the election.
Current Mayor Sam Schimizzi is not planning to seek another elected office at this time.
Village Board member Nan Woodworth, Brian Eslinger and Lou Perazzini will be competing for the two available trustee positions. Gary Schmidt has chosen not to seek re-election.
Republican Steve Decker is running for village justice. Connie Fern Miller is not seeking re-election.
