Dresden village board 1/24/11

Meeting:  The Dresden village board met Monday, Jan. 24, for 40 minutes.
Attendance:  Trustees Tom McGuigan and Dan Egburtson were present.  There were six members of the public in the audience.
Action:  The board approved setting the new budget public hearing for the Wednesday, April 6, board meeting.  Clerk Terry Dilts said with the 1.5 percent decrease in wages the tax rate would be down 3.169 percent.
Discussion without action:  Residents expressed concerns about how department of public works duties are chosen and approved.  McGuigan said he has asked for a daily schedule breakdown of what workers do.  Dilts said employees do log what is done and how long it takes.  However, it does not give the exact times the duties are carried out.
• Egburtson said he would look into what conflict of interests there would be for a fire department member on the village board.  McGuigan said getting two more board members, so there are four trustees and a mayor, would help in situations like that.
Upcoming meetings:  The next village board meeting is Wednesday, April 6, at 7:30 p.m.
