Dundee bands are champions, again

   DUNDEE, May 25—The Dundee Central School bands are the Seneca Falls Pageant of Bands Class C and over-all Grand Champions, for the second year in the row.
   Dundee competed in the Friday and Saturday, May 20 and 21, event. The Scots also placed first in all the high school events for Class C: concert band, jazz band, marching band, twirlers, floor guard and drum line. Dundee also had Best Drum Majors of the Parade: Tessa Fowler and John Jayne. Dundee has won this award the last five years.
   In the junior competition, Dundee placed second in concert band and third in jazz. Dundee swept the competition, defeating Geneva, South Seneca, Moravia, Oneida, Red Creek, Pal Mac, Albion, Marathon, Naples and Waterloo, coming home with the Grand Champion trophy.
   Directors are Patrick Dunham, high school band and marching; Kevin McLoud and Johanna Dombrowski, color guard; Melinda Tortolon, high school jazz, junior high band, junior high jazz; Kyle Knapton and Dunham, drum line; Nancy Skene and assistant Machelle Kelly, twirling; and John and Jayne Fowler, drum majors.
   Dundee has one last competition this season, the Gorham Pageant of Bands, June 3 and 4. Tortolon said this will be the 50th anniversary of the event and there will be many bands competing. Dundee will face off against five other schools in the same class.
