DUNDEE--Dundee Central School has been using technology like Facebook Live to reach parents and students long before it became necessary. School board meetings, concerts and sports contests are all events that have been video recorded live and are also then available after the broadcast to watch.
The recent abrupt school closures have put the technology in the spotlight. Dundee's school board meeting was broadcast as usual last week, Superintendent Kelly Houck held an interactive question and answer period, Monday, March 23 and Elementary Principal Laurie Hopkins-Halbert is currently holding daily announcements at 9 a.m. Houck said she plans to hold another question and answer session next Monday and perhaps sooner if the need arises.
During the Monday night broadcast, Houck explained how helpful the technology is, however, she mentioned there are also supplemental materials going out via phone call or mail to make sure everyone is up-to-date regardless of their home internet connectivity.
Search for Dundee Central School District on Facebook to see the upcoming events.
