Dundee focuses on cemetery maintenance

DUNDEE—Grass has been growing at an extraordinary fast rate this year due to the unusually wet spring.
While this has transformed  many home lawns,  into something resembling hayfields, the grass in Hillside Cemetery has produced frustration for village officials. The weather has also produced some frustration for the company hired this year to maintain the property.
The village office and some trustees have received complaints about the appearance of the Millard Street facility.  Dundee officials were particularly concerned that the cemetery be in shape by Memorial Day.
Nick Sorce is the owner of the company that received the contract for mowing the cemetery this year. The village wants the cemetery mowed every two weeks during the growing season at most.
Sorce said a property as large as the cemetery takes three or four employees two full days to mow and weed wack.
