WASHINGTON--U.S. Rep. Tom Reed announced community funding projects from the bipartisan omnibus spending bill, Friday, March 11.
Locally, the Environmental Protection Agency will support a project through the State and Tribal Assistance Grants (STAG) Drinking Water State Revolving Fund (DWSRF). This includes the replacement of the village of Dundee's 34-year-old water tank with a new bolted steel-glass lined storage tank for $640,000. The 1996 amendments to the Safe Drinking Water Act (SWDA), established the DWSRF and makes funds available to drinking water system operators to finance infrastructure improvements.
"We were proud of our fight to secure these investments for community projects under the bipartisan omnibus spending bill," Reed said. "We care about the priorities of our communities and will always work to ensure our area gets the resources they need. We were glad to work in a bipartisan fashion to deliver for the residents of our area."
Reed also announced a project in Seneca Falls for nearly two million dollars and one in Prattsburgh for nearly $400,000 on Friday, along with a list of other recipient communities in the 23rd district.
Congress passed the omnibus spending bill for fiscal year 2022 last week clearing the way for federal funds to go to projects throughout the nation, including infrastructure. The action amounted to $1.5 trillion dollars in spending; $730 billion in non-defense funding and $782 billion in defense.
The EPA saw a total of $9.56 billion of which $4.352 billion was for STAGs.
Reed added, "Washington coming together last night shows again what is possible when we work in a bipartisan fashion. The House passed the bipartisan omnibus bill which helped secure much-needed defense and humanitarian aid for Ukraine, deliver real results for the American people and avert a government shutdown. We are also very proud of our work to ensure that this bill includes specific funding for priorities in our community."
