Early voting is underway for election

FINGER LAKES--Residents of the Finger Lakes already have the opportunity to vote early or on election day, Aug. 23, for candidates competing in the Republican primary as well as a special election.
In Yates County, voters will be asked to cast their ballot in the Republican primary for the 24th Congressional District. There will be three candidates, Claudia Tenney, Mario Fratto and George Phillips, vying for the nomination. The second item up for resident input is the special election to temporarily fill the local Congressional seat with Democrat Max H. Della Pia facing off against Republican Joseph Sempolinksi.
Early voting is taking place at the Yates County Office Building located at 417 Liberty St. in Penn Yan through Aug. 21. Hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekends, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, Wednesday and Friday and 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday and Thursday. In Schuyler County, voters will be asked to vote in the Republican primary election with Carl Paladino and Nick Langworthy as candidates. There will also be a special election to temporarily fill the local Congressional 23rd district seat with Democrat Max H. Della Pia facing off against Republican Joseph Sempolinksi.

Early voting is taking place at County Courthouse Building located at 105 9th St. in Watkins Glen through Aug. 21. Wednesday's hours are noon to 8 p.m., Thursday - 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Friday - 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Saturday - 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday - 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Like Schuyler County, Steuben residents will participate in the Republican primary for the 23rd District House seat with Carl Paladino vying against Nick Langworthy and the special election with Democrat Max H. Della Pia facing off against Republican Joseph Sempolinksi.
There are three early voting locations for the county and residents can use anyone. They include the Steuben County Annex in Bath, the Hornell Arts Center and SE Steuben County Library in Corning and are available through Aug. 21. The hours: Wednesday - 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Thursday - 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., Friday - 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturday - 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Sunday - 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
