DUNDEE--Dollar Tree, Inc. has announced a new Family Dollar store in Dundee is scheduled to open in January 2021. The 15,011 square foot store will be located at 1 Water Street, the location of the former Martini's grocery store.
In addition to providing low prices, generally from $1 to $10, Family Dollar stores offer products including frozen and refrigerated food, beauty and essentials, household products, pet food, diapers, electronics, hardware and automotive supplies, and apparel. The offerings include name brands and private label merchandise.
This new location will also offer a variety of Dollar Tree merchandise, priced at $1, including seasonal decor, Hallmark greeting cards, party and craft supplies, dinnerware, teaching and school necessities, toys, books, and more.
Kayleigh M. Painter, Dollar Tree's investor and media relations manager, said, "A store of this size typically employs six to 10 associates. Interested applicants can apply online at www.FamilyDollar.com/careers or by visiting the store location closer to the opening date."
"Family Dollar continues to grow and we are proud to be part of the Dundee community," stated Painter.
Dollar Tree, a Fortune 200 Company, operated 15,606 stores across 48 states and five Canadian provinces as of Oct. 31, 2020. Stores operate under the brands of Dollar Tree, Family Dollar, and Dollar Tree Canada.
The background for the Dundee location: Doug Martini purchased the grocery store from Alan and LewAnn Giles in September of 2009. At that time, the store had been in the Giles family for more than 50 years. In January 2013, Martini converted the store to a Sav-A-Lot. Then in February 2018, Martini converted the grocery store back again to the Shur-Fine brand. Martini closed the business in December 2019.
