Finger Lakes wines take gold awards

    ROCHESTER—Several Finger Lakes wineries won double gold and gold awards at the 12th annual Finger Lakes International Wine Competition March 24 and 25 in Rochester.
    The event benefits Camp Good Days and includes wineries from around the world.  The top awards went to out-of-state wineries, but recognitions also went to Finger Lakes wines.  Double Gold was awarded to Fulkerson 2011 Matinee; Lakewood 2009 Lemberger; and Seneca Shore Cabernet Franc.
    The area winners for gold awards included: Anthony Road 2009 Riesling; Chateau LaFayette Reneau 2010 Dry Riesling, 2010 Late Harvest Riesling, and 2010 Semi-Dry Riesling; Fox Run 2009 Tierce Dry Riesling; Glenora 2009 Ice Harvest Riesling; Hazlitt 2010 Semi-Dry Riesling; Lakewood 2010 Riesling and 2009 Candeo; McGregor 2010 Semi-Dry Riesling; Red Newt 2011 Riesling; and Thirsty Owl 2010 Reserve Pinot Noir.

    Silver and bronze awards were also given out to wines.  According to the wine competition, around 3,200 entries were tasted.
