Fire department weekend will draw hundreds

PENN YAN—The Penn Yan Fire Department’s annual carnival will draw 40 different area fire departments as well as hundreds of spectators this weekend. Running from Thursday, Aug. 7 to Saturday, Aug. 9, the carnival will be located at the Fireman’s Field off Lake Street. The carnival will include rides, carnival games, live entertainment and a Saturday parade featuring 40 different fire departments from as far away as Sodus and East Rochester.
Thursday will feature live music by Murphy’s Law, along with rides and attractions beginning at 5 p.m. The chicken barbecue begins Friday at 4 p.m., with rides starting at 5 p.m., along with live music by DILF. The fireworks show begins at 10 p.m.
Saturday a kiddie matinee on the midway takes place from 1 to 5 p.m., with another chicken barbecue at 1 p.m. The annual Fire Fighter’s Parade begins at 6 p.m. marching along Lake Street to the carnival grounds behind Knapp and Schlappi Lumber. Live music will be provided by Knight Patrol after the parade until the carnival closes.
