Flights of Fancy: Finger Lakes Wine Classic is this Saturday, May 20

PENN YAN--The Penn Yan Rotary Club and the Yates County Chamber of Commerce will host the 2017 Flights of Fancy: Finger Lakes Wine Classic, Saturday, May 20. The event runs from 2 to 7 p.m at the Hampton Inn in Penn Yan.
Twenty invited wineries will pour Finger Lakes wines, pairing tastings with eight food vendors at this second annual event.
Most wineries are returning for their second year, and some are new.
"This is a delightful upcoming event we wouldn't miss. Now that it is on Keuka's waterfront at the Hampton Inn, it's going to be even more fun," said Judy Wiltberger of Keuka Springs.
Music will be by Artistic License on the tented patio facing Keuka Lake.
As a fundraiser, Rotary will be pouring wine by the glass from participating wineries so tasters can get a better idea of preferences. Bottle sales will be available from wineries. Chef demonstrations are scheduled for 3:30, 4:30 and 5:30 p.m.
There is also a no charge Friday night kickoff at the Hampton Inn under the tent from 5 to 9 p.m. with music by Top Shelf. Food and drinks will be available for purchase.
A history hike will also be on the Outlet Trail from 10 to noon Saturday.
Proceeds from the event will support Penn Yan Rotary projects.
Tickets for the Saturday event are $35 at the gate or $30 with advance purchase. Admission includes 16 one-ounce wine tasting tickets and a commemorative wine glass.
