Four museum boats going to the state's welcome center

HAMMONDSPORT--The Finger Lakes Boating Museum is usually taking in boats for their classic collection.
Monday, Feb. 26 the boating museum volunteers were loading four legacy boats in a covered truck and the destination was the new visitor's Welcome Center in Geneva.
Ed Wightman, president of the museum, said, "The museum was invited to supply four boats for the Welcome Center and we are pleased to accommodate that request. The boats will be attached from the ceiling and provide authentic pieces from the museum for the visitors to view." Wightman continued, "Of course, we hope many visitors will then make the trip to Hammondsport to see our entire collection. The Welcome Center will be an excellent promotion for the museum."
The Finger Lakes Welcome Center Will Feature:
• I Love NY Kiosks with videos and directions to the Finger Lakes renowned tourism destinations.
• A Taste NY market showcasing local food, wine, beer, cider and spirits sourced from across the Finger Lakes.
• Children's playground, electric vehicle charging stations and a farmers' market.
"The Finger Lakes Welcome Center will be a fantastic gateway to the region, introducing visitors to the natural beauty and vibrant towns and cities of the Finger Lakes," Gov. Andrew Cuomo said. "Our investments in tourism allow us to showcase our finest assets, attract residents and visitors alike, and drive local economies."
