Hammondsport gets a cool new logo

HAMMONDSPORT (April 10, 2012)—The Hammondsport Chamber of Commerce has unveiled a new logo for the village to celebrate being named one of two Coolest Small Towns in America.
Hammondsport tied with Beaufort, North Carolina, in Budget Travel magazine’s competition, which ended Jan. 31. The two were among the final 10 towns across the country being voted on in the competition. Anybody could vote online each day over a period of months before the winners were announced.
The Hammondsport chamber then accepted new logo designs through March 30. Rob Kurcoba was announced the winner. The Palettes of Keuka Committee even offered a $250 cash prize for the winner.
Hammondsport chamber President Brett Steeves said there were nearly 20 entities in the logo contest. He explained the chamber narrowed it down to the best four that would look good and represented Hammondsport well. He said some of the entries were too “busy looking” and had too many details.
However, Steeves said the chamber wanted a logo that represented the “wings, wine, and water” that makes Hammondsport the community it is. He explained Kurcoba’s logo best portrayed all that.
The chamber has already produced merchandise with the new design, including t-shirts and hats. Steeves added the logo will be used on banners and posters to be displayed in the village for future events.
Hammondsport and Beaufort will both be featured in the September/October issue of Budget Travel magazine. Budget Travel offers tips in planning, booking, and finding deals on trips.
