Hammondsport musical gets ready for upcoming shows

HAMMONDSPORT--In-person musicals are back! The Hammondsport Central School District Drama Club will be presenting "Emma! A Pop Musical" by Eric Price March 11 and 12 at 7 p.m., and March 13 at 1 p.m. Directed by Ami Corell and Robin Robarge, and stage-managed by sophomore Lexy Wilson, the show is a modern retelling of Jane Austen's classic novel, but set in a prep school with a soundtrack full of fun pop songs. The show will mark a return to live-audience performances in the newly updated auditorium at the school.
Led by senior Anya Brown (Emma) and freshman Keegan Walruth (Jeff Knightly), the cast spans from fifth grade to school faculty members, including seniors Rorie Whitcomb (Harriett), Asher Hartman (Martin), Otto Scheel (Phillip), Danielle Bennett (Ashley), Amelia Johnson, and Aliyah Snyder (Welcoming Committee singers), freshman Allison Peck (Jane) and Jacob Rosenbloom ('pop star' Frankie Churchill), seventh-grader Ashleigh Meade (Welcoming Committee singer) and ensemble members Grace Kellogg, Christie Curry, Saxon Davis, Nick Tompkins, Alexis Hurd, Emmy O'Neil, Judy Kenyon, Lucia Oliver, Macy Osmond, Jovana Rosenbloom and Maddie Wilson along with faculty members Salina Buckley (Miss Taylor) and John Kloiber (Mr. Weston). The crew is made up of junior Ethan Buckley on sound engineering and sophomore Markus Tompkins on lighting, sophomore Nick Serdula on curtain, and seventh graders Jamie Howell and Terill Mack on stage crew and junior Lucas Lampman as tech assistant.
Tickets can be reserved ahead by emailing acorell@hammondsportcsd.org. The price is $5 for students and senior citizens, and $8 for adults.
