Harvest Festival returns to Montour Falls

MONTOUR FALLS--The annual Falls Harvest Festival will be held Saturday, Sept. 26 in Montour Falls. The festival will feature a day of events, including fireworks displayed over the 156-foot high Shequagua Falls that will follow a free outdoor concert by Black Diamond Express, performing from 3 to 7 p.m.
Carole Pierce, director of events, said this year's festival runs 1 to 7 p.m. and features several contests such as a donut eating contest, a scarecrow contest and a pumpkin carving contest, along with other seasonal activities.
"Bring your carved pumpkin and gussied up scarecrow to the festival, register at the main tent and you could win a prize," Pierce said. "We will be featuring an annual car show that all are welcome to take part in. Craft and food vendors will be lining the streets."
Schuyler Hospital will be sponsoring a Kid Zone, a petting zoo and a "jumpy" castle. Live music acts will perform throughout the day on the music stage while attendees shop from a market of food, craft and farm vendors.
This event is put on by Watkins Glen Promotions, and helps bring visitors to Montour Falls.
The day's entertainment is made possible by sponsorships from area businesses and organizations. For more information, or to obtain contest entry information, call 607-535-3003 or visit the festival's web page at http://www.watkinsglen.com/promotions/harvest/.
