Hector Fair kicks off Thursday

HECTOR--The 59th annual Hector Fireman's Fair is preparing for its three day run, beginning Thursday, July 27 and concluding Saturday, July 29. The Route 414 firemen's field and firehouse for Valois-Logan-Hector host the event. One of the highlights during the weekend is the large parade held at 7 p.m. Friday night. Parade units line up at the Dandy Mini Mart and proceed on the nearly one mile parade route to the fire department.
Both Thursday and Friday, gates to the fair open at 6 p.m. Saturday the event opens at noon. Parking and admission are free throughout the weekend.
In addition to the rides, games, music and food, Thursday night will also feature DJ Miller Time from 7 to 10 p.m. Friday has the parade at 7 p.m. and Nick Kody and the Creek Road Band will be playing from 8 p.m. to midnight. Saturday will include a chicken barbecue beginning at noon, and also has a car show until 4 p.m., a vehicle extraction demonstration at 5 p.m., Rukus performing from 8 p.m. to midnight and a fireworks display at 10:30 p.m.
Also on display are a large collection of books for sale, as well as live animals and area vendors. Bingo and sawmill demonstrations are also popular fair features.
