Himrod man dies in auto accident

GENEVA -- A Yates County man died of his injuries following a one-vehicle crash Nov. 18 on Route 14 in the town of Geneva, the Ontario County Sheriff's Department said.
The victim was John R. Stryker, 22, of Himrod, the sheriff's department said. He was later pronounced dead at Geneva General Hospital.
Stryker was northbound on Route 14 at about 6:30 a.m. when his vehicle veered off the west side of the road, went down an embankment and hit a cement culvert, the sheriff's department said.
Stryker was trapped in his vehicle and had to be extricated by firefighters, the sheriff's department said.
A 2011 graduate of Penn Yan High School, Stryker was employed by Sloan Landscaping in Himrod and Byrne Dairy in Penn Yan, according to the Norman L. Waterman Funeral Home in Newark.
A memorial service was scheduled for 1 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 23, at Woodlane Community Church, 5694 Woodlane in Newark.
