It’s a holiday weekend

TRI-COUNTY AREA—The area Independence Day weekend activities include everything from fireworks and a parade to the ever-popular Dundee Day, the Penn Yan Fly-In, a carnival in Hammondsport and more.
The village of Branchport will once again host their Independence Day Parade Friday, July 4 beginning at 2 p.m. Yates County Speedway will have a fireworks show Friday evening in Dundee. In Schuyler County, the village of Watkins Glen will host their annual fireworks display Friday, July 4 at the Clute Memorial Park. The show will begin at 9:30 p.m., with a rain date set for Saturday, July 5.
The Penn Yan Flying Club will be holding their annual Fly-In Breakfast Friday, July 4 at the Penn Yan Airport from 6:30 to 11:30 a.m. Friday evening will culminate with the Night of Lights on Keuka Lake at 10 p.m., with lakeside residents lighting flares around the lake.
Dundee will also have their Dundee Day celebration Saturday, July 5 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.The event offers a village-wide yard sale and vendors in the Seneca Street Park. The Dundee Day Strawberry Festival will also run from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Dundee Methodist Church. Keuka College is holding their Fifth of July Beach Party from 8 to 10 p.m. The proceeds from this event will go to benefit the Sampson Theatre.
Hammondsport’s Annual Firemen’s Carnival at 90 Pulteney St. runs Thursday, July 3 through Saturday, July 5, with a fireworks show scheduled for 10 p.m. Saturday evening. Gates open at 6 p.m. Thursday, 2 p.m. Friday and 1 p.m. Saturday. Hammondsport will also feature their Music in the Park summer concert series Thursday night at the village square from 8 to 11 p.m.
There will be a reading of the Declaration of Independence at the Tyrone memorial area at the town hall at 10 a.m Friday. Branchport will also be the site of the United Methodist Church’s Red, White and Blue 5K at 8 a.m.
The Old Havana Courthouse Theatre in Montour Falls will also present “For the Love of Pete,” Friday through Sunday over the holiday weekend. The show begins Friday and Saturday at 7 p.m. and 2 p.m. Sunday.
