It's time for back to school

TRI-COUNTY AREA-It's time for new classes, new teachers, new backpacks and new books.
It's back-to-school time next week for students throughout the area and the state.
Dundee, Penn Yan and Hammondsport start on Sept. 5. Watkins Glen pre-kindergarten through ninth grade and Odessa-Montour begin classes Wednesday, Sept. 6. Watkins Glen high school classes begin Thursday, Sept. 7.
For the Watkins district, Tom Phillips announced his retirement as superintendent and the school board has appointed Greg Kelahan as the new superintendent for the 2017-18 school year. Kelahan was previously the superintendent of the Oriskany Central School District in Oneida County and has held that position since since January, 2010. The Oriskany Central School District, which includes portions of Whitestown, Floyd and Marcy, has an enrollment of approximately 610 students and has 120 instructional and non-school related staff members.
