Library vote will be April 8

PENN YAN—The Penn Yan Public Library (PYPL) will hold their annual election Tuesday, April 8. The election will be to approve the 2014-15 budget as well as two open positions on the board of trustees. The election will take place from 9 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the library, located at 214 Main St. in the village.
The 2014-15 library budget contains a 2 percent increase in the tax levy to $621,754. The total expense is up 1.9 percent to $644,454. Executive Director Angela Gonzalez said the library is planning three major projects for 2014, including a parking lot update, public copier upgrade and joining the Southern Tier Library System’s STARCat catalog.
There will be two trustee positions up for vote. Incumbents Peter Gamba and Rich Stewart are running unopposed. Each trustee will be elected to a five-year term.
