Local groups provide weekend entertainment

PENN YAN, DUNDEE—Groups in both Dundee and Penn Yan have some fun entertainment planned for the upcoming weekend.
Dundee Central School, with support from the Dundee Rotary Club, will feature the Dollars for Scholars Variety Show Friday and Saturday, Oct. 18 and 19 at 7 p.m. in the Dundee auditorium. Each class has been requested to put on an act  in the show, with all proceeds from the event going to the members of the graduating class. Directed by Patrick Dunham and Erin Brooks, this year’s theme is Back to the Future. Popular acts include “Men in Tights,” “More Cowbell” and more. Tickets are $3 for students and senior citizens, and $6 for adults.
Penn Yan will have the Sampson Theatre at 135 East Elm St. transformed into a haunted house, as the Sampson Theatre and PENNsylvania YANkee Theatre Co. present “Haunted Sampson Comes to Life.” The event includes a scary tour through the Sampson Theatre, while children enjoy Halloween crafts and treats. The tour will have warm apple cider, maple cotton candy and face painting available.
The event runs the weekend of Friday and Saturday, Oct. 18 and 19, as well as Friday and Saturday, Oct. 25 and 26 from 6 to 9 p.m. Admission is $2 for 12 and younger, and $4 for 13 and older.
