Marchionda pleads not guilty

PENN YAN—Former Penn Yan Mayor Douglas Marchionda Jr., 42, plead not guilty to grand larceny in the fourth degree and falsifying business records in the first degree, in his Penn Yan court appearance, Monday, June 21.
Justice Danny Hibbard presided over the case.  Marchionda was arrested and charged with the two counts, Friday, May 28.  Charges were made following an investigation by New York State Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV). The issue was sales tax fraud in connection with purchase of a motor home in 2005.  Both charges are class E felonies.
Yates County Sheriff Ron Spike had previously said the charges involved sales tax fraud.
Marchionda appears next in Penn Yan village court, Monday, July 12.
