Meeting:  The Montour Falls village board met Monday, Oct. 19 for one hour and 15 minutes, plus an executive session lasting 30 minutes.
Attendance:  All board members were present.  There were no members of the public in the audience.
Action:  The board agreed to reject the bids from the Genesee Street telemetry project because they were too high.  The board then decided to rebid, but for the whole telemetry project.  Mayor Donna Kelley said the work is needed because the water tanks radio signal system used does not work and needs to be activated by hand.
•   The board also approved closing off the Montour Cemetery to vehicles from Dec. 31 to April 1.  Kelley said she has gotten complaints about how the upper entrance is closed off to vehicles starting Nov. 1 and the lower entrance is not.  She said she agrees it should be both or neither.  Kelley also explained the upper entrance has been closed off during the winter because people drive figure eights in the cemetery.  The entrances can still be accessed on foot.  The board chose Dec. 31 to April 1, because it is after the holidays.
Discussion without action:  Kelley said Odessa Mayor Keith Pierce wants both village boards to meet to discuss possibly sharing a highway superintendent.  She said the two villages would have a lot to talk about, like who would pay the superintendent  and who shares him.  Trustee Jim Howell suggested Schuyler County highway Superintendent Greg Mathews also be present.
•  Kelley talked about getting the fire department reviewed by the Department of Labor’s Public Employee Safety and Health (PESH).
Upcoming meetings:  The next regular village board meeting will be Monday, Nov. 2 at 7 p.m.
