Montour Falls village board 3/5/12

Meeting:  The Montour Falls village board met for one hour and 25 minutes, Monday, March 5.
Attendance:  All board members were present.  There were two members of the public in the audience.
Action: The board approved the annual water quality report to be sent out to residents.
Discussion without action:  Dean Hillyard, superintendent of public works, reported that the storm drain that runs from the B.C. Cate school to Shepard Niles was finally cleared out last week.  He said it has been plugged for at least 15 years.  He also reported he is getting around to checking any water meters the village hasn’t been able to access.
    • The board decided to not participate in a shared service grant application for code enforcement with Schuyler County.
    • Mayor John King reported that the sale of 336-338 West Main St. to Quinlan’s Pharmacy will be finalized this week.  He added that renovations will then start on the building in preperation of opening a pharmacy there.
    • Board member Jim Ryan proposed looking into extending term limits for trustees and the mayor to four years.  He said as it is currently, the village is holding an election every year.  He explained the change would mean elections would be held every other year, saving the village money.
    • Board member Ellen Mathers said the new village website should be operational by the end of the month.
    • King said he was invited to the March 16 March for Meals event by the office for the aging.  He added he was asked to help the Meals on Wheels deliver food that day also.  He explained this ties into the 40th anniversary of the senior nutrition program.
Upcoming meetings:  The next regular Montour Falls village board meeting is Monday, April 2, at 7 p.m.
