Penn Yan gets funding for three buildings

YATES COUNTY—The latest round of Restore NY funds has given several area buildings needed grant money to be renovated.
Gov. David Paterson announced the recipients Wednesday, Sept. 2. In Penn Yan, the Restore NY funds will go to the former Garrett Winery building and two warehouse buildings, all on Water Street. According to Paterson’s office, the combined project for mixed use redevelopment will get $2,500,000. The downtown revitalization project would turn the Garrett Winery building into a restaurant, office, and retail space. The two Water Street warehouses would also be turned into office and retail space, but also apartments.
The total funds given out in this round of Restore NY grants is $153.6 million for 79 projects across the state.
