Penn Yan opens Liberty Street bridge

PENN YAN—On Wednesday, May 23 at 8:30 a.m. the Liberty Street bridge in Penn Yan was officially opened for traffic and pedestrians. Among the first to cross the bridge were Penn Yan fire trucks and the Penn Yan police.
A number of people, many with cameras in hand, were also there to see the new bridge for the first time since Sept. 6, 2011 when work began. A few of the first drivers who passed over the bridge honked their horn to celebrate the opening.
