Schuyler offers prescription card

SCHUYLER COUNTY—The Schuyler County Legislature has announced the introduction of the ProAct Prescription Drug Discount Card Program for county residents. The card will be provided free of charge to all county residents through a partnership with ProAct, Inc., a Pharmacy Benefit Management Company.
The cards will provide users with discounts ranging from 10 to 20 percent on brand name drugs and 20 to 70 percent on generic drugs. While the program will be of most benefit to residents lacking prescription drug insurance and seniors paying out-of-pocket expenses for the Medicare Part D coverage gap, all Schuyler County residents, regardless of income or age, can use the card.
Beginning in a couple of weeks, ProAct will mail discount cards to residents’ homes. Discount cards will also be available at participating pharmacies and many county offices. Please note that this program is being offered completely free of charge to the county and to residents.
The card can be used at any pharmacy in the county and at over 56,000 pharmacies nationwide. One discount card may be used for all family members and can also be used for discounts on pet medications. There are no enrollment forms, membership fees or income requirements.
Here is an overview:
• Any resident of Schuyler County based on criteria established by ProAct, regardless of age or income can participate and use this program or if a particular benefit is not offered.
• Every household will receive a card in the mail. If for any reason a household is missed or someone requires an extra card(s) they can visit www.NYRxDiscountCard.com  to print a card or call the ProAct, Inc. help desk at 1-877-776-2285.
• This card will be of most use and benefit to those who are un-insured or under-insured.
• The cards cannot be used in conjunction with any other type of insurance or to discount co-pays. People who currently have insurance can use the card in the event that a particular drug is not covered under their current insurance plan.
• Discount Card covers all prescription medications, brand or generic. Prescriptions for pets would also be covered, as long as the prescription can be filled at a regular retail pharmacy.
• Discount card will also provide discounts on vision, hearing and LASIK services; for details please refer to www.NYRxDiscountCard.com.
Residents will receive the new prescription card in the mail and should contact ProAct directly with any questions at 1-877-776-2285 or visit www.proactrx.com.
