PENN YAN—The timeline for selection of a new superintendent of schools for Penn Yan Central School District has been announced.

During the Oct. 5 meeting of the district board of education, Board President Jeff Morehouse announced there will be Focus Group meetings with staff and the community Oct. 20. The position will be advertised beginning Dec. 1 with application deadline Feb. 11, 2011.

Interviews of six semifinalists will be March 28 and 29, 2011, followed by narrowing of the list to three finalists. The board of education will make their selection April 13 following visits from finalists and interviews. The official board appointment is scheduled April 27, 2011 with the new superintendent to start July 2, 2011.

Current superintendent Ann Orman’s resignation is effective Feb. 4, 2011. She has led the district for five years.
