Sheriff, police arrest 10 people on drug charges

SCHUYLER COUNTY—After a year and a half investigation, 10 Schuyler County residents were arrested for selling drugs, Thursday, March 5.

The arrests took place early Thursday morning as a combined effort by the Schuyler County Sheriff’s Office, Watkins Glen Police Department and the District Attorney.

The arrested are, Scott A. Cody, 22, of Rock Stream; Ryan J. Brown, 20, of Montour Falls; David C. Madorsky, 31, of Watkins Glen; Donald L. Morse, 25, of Burdett; Jamie M. Yuhasz, 20, of Watkins Glen; Timothy Philip, 33, of Watkins Glen; Michael J. Hanville, 26, of Watkins Glen; Kenneth H. Jimerson Jr., 22, of Watkins Glen; Floyd Cameron, 34, of Rock Stream; and Kyle D. Campbell, 19, of Wayne.

Thomas Struble, Watkins Glen police chief, said the charges range from criminal sale of a controlled substance to petit larceny.  He explained that the drugs being sold included marijuana, cocaine and prescription drugs, such as oxicontent.

“This isn’t a drug ring,” said Schuyler County District Attorney Joseph Fazzary.  These were all separate arrests.  He added that the pending arrests they are looking to make are also for  individuals.  Fazzary said a large-scale drug bust such as this should put a temporary stop to drug sales in the area for a few months.  He added that was their purpose.

William Yessman, sheriff, said they waited to do several arrests at once because they did not want to tip off other suspects after just a few arrests.  He said a few arrests “puts everyone on alert.”  Yessman added that it all went smoothly.

“We had 10 targets and we achieved 10 targets,” said Yessman.

Fazzary said that the state also helped in the investigation the last three years by providing grant funds and impact tools.  The funds pay for the special prosecutor and the special investigator in the DA’s office.
