SPORTS RECAP: Week of 10-12-22

Penn Yan-Dundee Football
The Penn Yan-Dundee football team celebrated homecoming at Dundee with a win over Marcus Whitman/Bloomfield, 48-16, Saturday, Oct. 8.
Quarterback Carter Earl was 10-for-11 on the day with 215 passing yards and three touchdowns. He also carried the ball five times for 64 yards and two touchdowns.
Also on the rushing attack were Nick Slavick with five carries for 60 yards, Bryant Van Housen with two carries for nine yards including a touchdown and Eli Raplee with two runs for 34 yards and a touchdown.
Anthony Druker, Slavick and Caden Dixon all caught passes for a touchdown.
On defense, Hunter Sheehan led the team with 11 tackles, including a fumble recovery. David Young recorded nine tackles, while Jaxson Enos had seven. Wyatt Walters and Reed Bouchard each had six tackles. Tony Sciallo added five with a fumble recovery.

Penn Yan
Boys Soccer
The Penn Yan boys soccer team defeated Mynderse, 1-0, Thursday, Oct. 6. Riley Griffiths scored with an assist by Owen Bishop.
The team shut out Waterloo, 4-0, Tuesday, Oct. 4. David Reid had two goals, while Landon Berry and Jayden Reid scored the other two. Assists were earned by Berry (two), Zackary Townley and Joe Droney.

Girls Soccer
The Penn Yan girls soccer team posted a big win over Red Jacket, 7-0, Friday, Oct. 7. Scoring for the Mustangs were: Hailey Hassos (two), Maihue Miranda-Wiltberger, Mary D'Abbracci, Makenna Mullins, Kaylyn Lewis and Vanessa Martinez. Assists were recorded by: Morgan Andersen, Corinne Barden, Ruby Berry, Leah Prather, Hassos, Martinez and Mullins. Sienna Pettersen and Marion Wheeler split the game in the goal with two saves and one save, respectively.
The soccer team lost to Wayne, Monday, Oct. 3. The final score was 6-3. Andersen, Irelynd Densmore and Miranda-Wiltberger all scored. Assisting were Lewis, Hassos and Andersen. Wheeler made 13 saves in the goal.

Girls Tennis
The Penn Yan girls tennis team lost to Honeoye Falls-Lima, 4-1, Tuesday, Oct. 4. Penn Yan's only win was captured by Anella Tillman in third singles.
The Mustangs shut out North Rose-Wolcott, 5-0, Monday, Oct. 3. In singles, wins were earned by Rachael Garvey, Adelyn Emerson and Tillman. The doubles pairs of Rayna Rios and Natalie Koen along with Amanda Smith and Erin Clancy also won.

Volleyball
The Penn Yan volleyball team defeated Mynderse Academy in five games, Wednesday, Oct. 5. The game scores were 20-25, 25-13, 25-22, 13-25, 15-12.
The team lost to Bloomfield in three sets, Tuesday, Oct. 4. The game scores were 24-26, 19-25 and 21-25. Faith Baker had six kills, three digs and one ace. Hailey Trank recorded 11 assists, two aces, one kill and two digs. Ava Vogt added seven digs.

Cross Country
The Penn Yan cross country team competed in the Clyde-Savannah / Lyons meet, Tuesday, Oct. 4.
James Tette was first in 16:54. Kyle Wheeler finished fourth in 17:55. Anthony Wheeler took fifth with a 18:13.
Penn Yan's Tette took first place at the McQuaid Invitational, Saturday, Oct. 1. His time was 15:39.9 besting the second-place finisher by 14 seconds. Kyle Wheeler was 39th in 17:26.3.

Golf
The Penn Yan golf team lost to Bloomfield, 227-302, Tuesday, Oct. 4. Will Thompson shot a 53 and John Shaw had a 54.
The Mustangs defeated an incomplete Romulus/South Seneca team, Monday, Oct. 3. Penn Yan golfers had a combined score of 273. Thompson was the medalist with a 49.

Dundee-Bradford
Boys Soccer
The Dundee-Bradford boys soccer team defeated Bloomfield, Saturday, Oct. 8. The final score was 5-2. Aiden Monell had three goals in the game. Dylan Monell and Miguel Candela also scored. Assists were added by Ian Pavlina (two), Candela and Hayden Erick.
The team beat Odessa-Montour, 2-1, Thursday, Oct. 6. Candela scored twice, with assists by Aiden Monell.
The boys also fell to Naples, 1-0, Monday, Oct. 3.

Girls Soccer
The Dundee-Bradford girls soccer team shut out Romulus, 6-0, Friday, Oct. 7. Madison Hughes had two goals in the game. Also scoring were Kendall Parker, Riley Stinson, Trisha Edmister and Makena Hallock. Parker and Hughes also each added an assist.
The soccer team lost to Honeoye, 5-4, Wednesday, Oct. 5. Parker scored three goals on assists by Hughes and Korrin Yeoman had one on an assist by Madalyn Knapp. Ellie Fleet made seven saves in the goal.
The BraveScots defeated Odessa-Montour, 4-1, Monday, Oct. 3. Scoring were Parker, Hughes, Stinson and Abigail Gleason. Fleet recorded nine saves.

Volleyball
The Dundee-Bradford volleyball team won against Mynderse Academy, Friday, Oct. 7. The game scores were 25-11, 25-16, 25-14.
The BraveScots topped Addison in four games, Tuesday, Oct. 4. The scores were 22-25, 25-22, 25-9, 25-12. Lily Hall led with 22 assists, one kill and seven aces. Mikayla Schoffner had 12 kills and three aces, while McKenna Miller earned five kills and four aces. Brieonna Bayer added four kills and three aces.
The volleyball team fell to Harley-Allendale Columbia in four games, Monday, Oct. 3. The scores included 12-25, 17-25, 25-19, 20-25. Hall had four aces and two blocks, Addie Kendall had two kills and four aces and Schoffner added two kills and seven digs.

Cross Country
The Dundee-Bradford cross country team hosted Wayne, Marcus Whitman and Mynderse, Tuesday, Oct. 4.
For the boys, Bryten Dunham took 29th in 25:26.46. Braedyn Fisher was 30th in 26:00.50.
In the girls race, Marley Duffy was 10th with a 27:47.83.

Hammondsport
Boys Soccer
The Hammondsport boys soccer team lost to Marcus Whitman, 3-1, Friday, Oct. 7. Scoring for the Lakers was Stephen Veley III.
The boys fell to Arkport-Canaseraga, 4-2, Wednesday, Oct. 5. Recording goals were Luke Szathmary and Alex Brown.
The team also lost to Friendship/Scio, Monday, Oct. 3. The final score was 3-0.

Girls Soccer
The Hammondsport girls soccer team lost to Addison, 4-0, Thursday, Oct. 6. The team also defeated Friendship/Scio, 1-0, Monday. Oct. 3. Danica Dresser scored with an assist by Sam Pratt. LaZell Locey made one save in goal.

Volleyball
The Hammondsport volleyball team lost to Arkport-Canaseraga in three games, Wednesday, Oct. 5. Game scores included: 13-25, 15-25, 20-25.

Schuyler Storm
Football
The combined Watkins Glen and Odessa-Montour football team celebrated Watkins Glen's homecoming with a win over Dryden, Saturday, Oct. 8. The final score was 21-14 and the team's record is now 6-0.
Quarterback Daniel Lewis was 15-for-23 with 229 yards and two touchdowns. Ryan Willett had one touchdown catch with 94 total yards on three completions. Bradley Gillis recorded eight catches for 83 yards and a touchdown. Brady Cannon also made three receptions for 32 yards and Thomas Snow had one for 20 yards.
On the ground, Willett added 10 carries for 62 yards, Snow also had 10 for 54 yards and a touchdown and Gillis earned nine carries for 31 yards.
On defense, Snow led with 16 tackles. Gavin Lohmeyer had six and Gillis five.

Swimming
The Watkins Glen and Odessa-Montour swimming team defeated Vestal, 112-74, Thursday, Oct. 6. Recording first-place finishes were: the 200 medley relay team, Thalia Marquez (200 free and 500 free), Alannah Klemann (200 IM and 100 back), Kendra Fish (50 free), Emily Melveney (100 fly), Faye Mooney (100 free and 100 breaststroke), the 200 freestyle relay and the 400 freestyle relay team.
The team also beat Elmira Notre Dame, 103-44, Wednesday, Oct. 5. Winners included: the 200 medley relay team, Klemann (200 free and 500 free), Mooney (200 IM), Melveney (50 free), Marquez (100 fly), Fish (100 free) and the 200 freestyle relay team.

Watkins Glen
Boys Soccer
The Watkins Glen boys soccer team lost to Spencer-Van Etten/Candor, 9-0, Thursday, Oct. 6.

Girls Soccer
The Watkins Glen girls soccer team defeated Odessa-Montour, 3-1, Friday, Oct. 7. Skye Honrath scored twice and Ava Kelly once.
The soccer team shut out Tioga, 8-0, Wednesday, Oct. 5. Scoring were Skye Honrath (two), Brenna Pierce, Sasha Honrath (two), Jennifer Gublo, Katrina Ricca and Carly Arnold.

Volleyball
The Watkins Glen volleyball team defeated Newfield, 3-2, Wednesday, Oct. 5.

Cross Country
The Watkins Glen cross country team finished second at the IAC South meet at Newark Valley, Tuesday, Oct. 4. Aidan Maphis was the top finisher with a fourth-place result in 19:33.01.

Odessa-Montour
Boys Soccer
The Odessa-Montour boys soccer team lost to Dundee-Bradford, 2-1, Thursday, Oct. 6.
The team also lost to Trumansburg, 3-0, Tuesday, Oct. 4.

Girls Soccer
The Odessa-Montour girls soccer team lost to Watkins Glen, Friday, Oct. 7. The final score was 3-1. Tori Brewster scored for O-M.
The girls won against Newfield, Wednesday, Oct. 5. The final score was 3-2. Brewster scored twice and Hannah Nolan once. Keyonna Garrison made two saves in goal.
The soccer team fell to Dundee-Bradford, 4-1, Monday, Oct. 3. Nolan scored the team's only goal. Garrison recorded two saves.

Volleyball
The Odessa-Montour volleyball team lost to Tioga, 3-0, Friday, Oct. 7. The game scores were 10-25, 8-25, 12-25. Maya Moser led with five service points and six digs.
The team fell to Candor, 3-0, Wednesday, Oct. 5. The game scores were 14-25, 13-25, 11-25. Dominick Elliott led with six service points, four aces, three assists and two digs.
The volleyball team beat Newfield in four games, Monday, Oct. 3. The game scores were 25-12, 16-25, 25-21, 25-17. Elliott had eight service points, six aces, six assists and six digs. Kyleigh Bates added seven service points, three aces, four kills and four digs. Emma Landon had six service points, two aces, four kills and four digs.
