SPORTS RECAP: Week of 10-20-21

Dundee-Bradford Boys Soccer
The Dundee-Bradford boys soccer team defeated Waterloo, 7-1, Thursday, Oct. 14. Scoring for the BraveScots were Josep Bustamante, Ian Pavlina, Tyler Spina (twice), Logan Ayers, David Semans and Joe Nowicki. Assisting were Semans, Bustamante and Aiden Monell.
The team also defeated Honeoye, 4-0, Tuesday, Oct. 12. Jacopo Paniga recorded two goals in the game. Semans and Ayers each scored once. Assisting were Ayers, Joseph Torpy and Semans.

Dundee-Bradford Girls Soccer
The Dundee-Bradford girls soccer team beat Bloomfield, Friday, Oct. 15. The final score was 2-1. Kendall Parker and Nicole Peterson each scored with an assist by Hayden Morrison. Ellie Fleet made eight saves in goal.
The girls also beat Red Jacket, 2-1, Wednesday, Oct. 13. Madison Hughes and Parker each scored with assists from each other. Fleet recorded 10 saves.
The team lost to Naples, 5-2, Monday, Oct. 11. Hughes and Korrin Yeoman contributed goals in the game. Peterson and Hughes assisted.

Dundee-Bradford Volleyball
The Dundee-Bradford volleyball team hosted their annual "pink" game for breast cancer awareness, Friday, Oct. 15. The evening featured a number of raffles and games to benefit the Yates County Hope Walk.
The five-game competition ended with Penn Yan winning. The game scores were 25-12, 20-25, 25-23, 7-25, 19-25. Individual stats were not reported.

Penn Yan Golf
At Seneca Falls Country Club, Tuesday, Oct. 12, three Mustang golfers qualified to play for nine open slots in the spring golf sectionals. The team included Griffin Emerson, Cameron Bassage and Oliver Connelly.
Emerson went into a playoff to determine the advancing golfer for sectionals. He tied his opponent on the first playoff hole and won the second to compete in the spring.

Penn Yan Boys Soccer
The Penn Yan boys soccer team lost to Wayne, 3-0, Thursday, Oct. 14.
The team defeated Waterloo 6-0, Tuesday, Oct. 12. Scoring for the Mustangs were Owen Bishop, Brigham Hansen (twice), Dylan Hassos, Alex Reyes Leon and Riley Griffiths. Adding assists were Landon Berry (twice), Leon, Hansen, Jack Grabski and Zackary Townley.

Penn Yan Girls Soccer
The Penn Yan girls soccer team beat Red Jacket, 5-0, Friday, Oct. 15. Sierra Harrison recorded four goals and Kiera Castner had one. Assisting were Morgan Andersen, Kaley Griffin, Maihue Miranda-Wiltberger, Kaylyn Lewis and Emma Green. In goal, Elle Harrison had two saves.
The girls also shut out Midlakes, 4-0, Wednesday, Oct. 13. Sierra Harrison had three goals and Emma Eichenhofer one. Griffin, Eichenhofer and Andersen each assisted. Elle Harrison made six saves.

Penn Yan Tennis
The Penn Yan tennis team saw the doubles pair of Abigail Garvey and Jayden Hollister finish first for the Class B1 competition, Saturday, Oct. 16 at the Mendon Racquet Club.
The girls received a bye in the first round and then played and defeated Kelsey Kirkwood and Ally Debo in the pre-quarterfinals. Garvey and Hollister then beat Gretchen Whitman and Alexa Chimanti to advance to the semifinals against Kylee Bedette and Giavanna White Principio, who they also topped. The final match was against Addison Schiedel and Mary Repass from Honeoye Falls-Lima. Penn Yan won, 6-4 6-2.
Coming up is the state qualifier also at the Mendon Racquet Club, Wednesday, Oct. 20 through Friday, Oct. 22.

Penn Yan Volleyball
The Penn Yan volleyball team beat Dundee in the annual "pink" game to raise awareness of breast cancer, Friday, Oct. 15. The match went into five games with scores of 12-25, 25-20, 23-25, 25-7, 25-19.
The team also won against Palmyra-Macedon, Thursday, Oct. 14. In five games, the Mustangs won 21-25, 23-25, 25-13, 28-26, 25-14. Individual stats were not provided for either game.

Hammondsport Boys Soccer
The Hammondsport boys soccer team fell to Jasper-Troupsburg 4-3, Friday, Oct. 15. Scoring for the Lakers were TyChristopher Ritter (twice) and Tristan Davis. Assists were recorded by Nevin Davis (twice) and Ritter.
The soccer team also lost to Campbell-Savona, 3-1, Wednesday, Oct. 13. Luke Szathmary had the one goal for Hammondsport.

Hammondsport Girls Soccer
The Hammondsport girls soccer team beat Jasper-Troupsburg, 2-1, Friday, Oct. 15. Gabrielle Doyle and Hannah Hoerter scored with assists from Hoerter and Danica Dresser, respectively. Rorie Whitcomb made two saves.
The soccer team fell to Campbell-Savona, 3-0, Wednesday, Oct. 13. Whitcomb had eight saves in the game.

Hammondsport Volleyball
The Hammondsport volleyball team lost to Belfast/Genesee Valley in four games, Thursday, Oct. 14. The individual scores were 16-25, 25-9, 24-26, 18-25.
The Lakers defeated Avoca/Prattsburgh in three sets 25-13, 25-23, 25-23, Wednesday, Oct. 13. Hammondsport was led at the service line by Holley Kolo with four aces and Vivian Kenyon with three.

Avoca-Hammondsport-Prattsburgh Tennis
The sectional Class B2 finals were held for singles and doubles, Saturday, Oct. 16. The doubles team of Susie Moore and Kendra Pinckney defeated teammates Camryn Moore and Mallory Patoine to take the title, 7-6, 6-4, at the Mendon Racquet Club.

Seneca Indians Football
The Seneca Indians fell to undefeated Waverly, Friday, Oct. 15, during Odessa-Montour's homecoming weekend. The final score was 25-19.
Travon Jones had 19 carries for 152 yards and four receptions for 55 yards with two touchdowns in the game. Dominick Fazzary recorded one touchdown on 10 carries for 48 yards. Owen Scholtisek added 11 runs for 34 yards and three catches for 29 yards.
Quarterback Cameron Holland was 9-for-17 passing with 102 yards.
On defense, Daniel Ely made five tackles and Jacob Marsigli had four. Thomas Snow and Fazzary each made three tackles.

Watkins Glen Cross Country
The Watkins Glen cross country team competed at the Marathon Invitational, Saturday, Oct. 16. Johnny VanScoyk was 31st in 20:28 for the boys race. Aidan Maphis followed in 32nd with a 20:30. Dominic Gublo was 54th in 21:08.
For the girls, Breanna Carl took 21st in 25:17.8.

Watkins Glen Girls Soccer
The Watkins Glen girls soccer team lost to Marathon, 1-0, Tuesday, Oct. 12. Goalie Lilly Ameigh made six saves.
Coach Scott Morse said, "The girls played a really good game, and I am so proud of the progress they have made this year."

Watkins Glen/Odessa-Montour Swimming
The Watkins Glen/Odessa-Montour swimming team beat Elmira Notre Dame, 97-55, Friday, Oct. 15.
First place wins were captured by: the 200 medley relay team, Alannah Klemann (100 free and 200 free), Thalia Marquez (50 free), Kendra Fish (500 free), the 200 free relay team and Madison Moss (100 breaststroke).

Watkins Glen Volleyball
The Watkins Glen volleyball team lost to Spencer-Van Etten, 3-0, Friday, Oct. 15. Melanie Wysocki recorded eight service points and three digs. Kendall Gascon had six service points and Chelsea Parsons made four digs.
The team lost to Newfield, 3-1, Wednesday, Oct. 13. Colby Thurston had 17 service points in the game. Parsons added nine kills.

Odessa-Montour Boys Soccer
The Odessa-Montour boys soccer team beat Tioga, 1-0, Thursday, Oct. 14. Scoring for the Indians was Ethan King.
The Odessa boys also tied Notre Dame, 1-1, Tuesday, Oct. 12.

Odessa-Montour Girls Soccer
The Odessa-Montour girls soccer team lost to Marathon, 2-0, Saturday, Oct. 16.
The girls defeated Groton, 3-1, Tuesday, Oct. 12. Hannah Nolan had two goals and Tori Brewster had one with an assist. Eliza Starkweather recorded three saves.

Odessa-Montour Volleyball
The Odessa-Montour volleyball team lost to Tioga in three games, Thursday, Oct. 14. Hannah Kinner and Dominick Elliott each had three service points. Emma Landon and Kaylee Watson both recorded three digs.
The volleyball team also lost to Candor, 3-0, Wednesday, Oct. 13. Jade Baldwin had five service points and three aces. Elliott added five service points and three kills.
