SPORTS RECAP: Week of 12-14-22

Watkins Glen
Boys Basketball
The Watkins Glen boys basketball team defeated Newark Valley, 53-43, Friday, Dec. 9. Jacob Yontz had 19 points to lead the team. Joseph Sutterby add 10 and Chris Simiele had seven.
The Senecas won over Notre Dame, Tuesday, Dec. 6. The final score was 66-38. Yontz had 23 points and 13 rebounds in the game. Sutterby added 15 points and seven rebounds.

Girls Basketball
The Watkins Glen girls basketball team lost to Newark Valley, Friday, Dec. 9. The final score was 42-25. Jenna Solomon recorded 11 points and seven rebounds in the game. Rachel Vickio added five points and five rebounds.
The basketball team won over Elmira Notre Dame, 39-35, Tuesday, Dec. 6. Vickio led the team with 16 points. Solomon had 10.

Bowling
The Watkins Glen boys and girls bowling teams defeated Section V's Dundee-Bradford, Thursday, Dec. 8. Both teams won 4-0.
For the girls, Ava Cowan had a 476, Alyiah Clink-Bentley a 426 and Aubrey Kellogg a 422.
Brett Cullen-Pike led the boys with a 469. Mykel Cody added a 442.

Swimming
The Watkins Glen and Odessa-Montour swim team won, 89-68, over Dryden, Tuesday, Dec. 6.
First-place finishes were recorded by the 200 medley relay team, Ryan Dean (200 free and 100 fly), Liam Smith (200 IM and 500 free), Nick DeLong (50 free), Jeremiah Desrochers (diving), Jon Spencer (100 free) and the 200 freestyle relay team.

Wrestling
The Watkins Glen and Odessa-Montour wrestling team finished 2-3 at the Ark-Can Holiday Duals, Saturday, Dec. 10. Lucas Hoffman and Mark Waterman both won all five matches at the tournament.
The wrestling team beat Edison, 54-18, Wednesday, Dec. 7. Competitive wins were recorded by Waterman (pin 0:29), Gabe Williams (pin 4:12), Jed Lynch (pin 2:20), Tristan Harrington (pin 0:34) and Brody Williams (pin 1:37).

Odessa-Montour
Boys Basketball
The Odessa-Montour boys basketball team lost to Candor, Thursday, Dec. 8. The final score was 66-43. Daniel Lewis earned 20 points for the Grizzlies.
The basketball team lost to Newfield, 101-35, Tuesday, Dec. 6.

Girls Basketball
The Odessa-Montour girls basketball team won against Candor, 51-20, Friday, Dec. 9. Gina Gavich and Keyonna Garrison both recorded 14 points in the game.
The basketball team defeated Newfield, 52-19, Tuesday, Dec. 6. Garrison had 15 points and 11 rebounds. Hannah Nolan contributed 12 points with seven steals.

Dundee-Bradford
Boys Basketball
The Dundee-Bradford boys basketball team defeated Naples, 74-49, Thursday, Dec. 8. Ryan McTamney had 20 points and six steals. Nick Slavick recorded 17 points, while Cam Rosemier had 14. Logan Buchanan added 11 points.
The team fell to Bloomfield, Tuesday, Dec. 6. The final score was 60-48. Slavick had 13 points and nine rebounds.

Girls Basketball
The Dundee-Bradford girls basketball team recorded an easy victory over Naples, Friday, Dec. 9. The final score was 60-21. Kendall Parker led with 18 points, three steals and two rebounds. Kailey Yeoman added 15 points with seven steals. Brieonna Bayer had six points with four rebounds.
The team lost to Bloomfield, 41-35, Wednesday, Dec. 7. Parker had 19 points and Yeoman contributed eight.

Indoor Track
The indoor track team competed at Nazareth College, Saturday, Dec. 10.
Madison Hughes was third in the triple jump and fourth in the high jump.
Camden Buchanan took second in the 55 meter dash, third in the 300 meter dash and fourth in the long jump. Logan Buchanan finished second in the high jump. Hayden Erick earned third place in the long jump and was fourth in the triple jump.

Wrestling
The Dundee-Bradford wrestling team defeated Red Jacket 48-18, Thursday, Dec. 8. Recording competitive wins were Zachary Grant (132 - pin 3:54), Connor Erick (145 - pin 0:37) and Caden Hill (160 - pin 0:58).

Penn Yan
Boys Basketball
The Penn Yan boys basketball team fell to Waterloo, Friday, Dec. 9. The final score was 63-55.
The team also lost to Newark, 62-35, Tuesday, Dec. 6. Liam Chapman and Tanyon Dunning each had eight points in the game.

Girls Basketball
The Penn Yan girls basketball team lost to Waterloo, 71-26, Friday, Dec. 9. Bailey Cooper paced the team with eight points and nine rebounds. Both Taylor Mullins and Hailey Trank recorded six points.

Indoor Track
The indoor track team competed at Nazareth College, Saturday, Dec. 10.
James Tette took first in the 1,600 meter run with a time of 4:44.27. Anthony Wheeler was second in the 1,000 meter run and Kyle Wheeler was fifth. Anthony Sciallo placed fifth in the shot put.

Wrestling
The Penn Yan wrestling team lost to Midlakes, 48-27, Tuesday, Dec. 6. Winning for the Mustangs were Jacob Eaves (118 - pin 0:54), Aiden Smith (138 - pin 1:25), Roark Castner (189 - pin 0:24) and Reed Bouchard (285 - decision 3-1).

Hammondsport
Boys Basketball
The Hammondsport boys basketball team lost to Arkport-Canaseraga, 64-30, Friday, Dec. 9.

Girls Basketball
The Hammondsport girls basketball team fell to Canisteo-Greenwood, 45-31, Friday, Dec. 9. The girls also fell to Arkport-Canaseraga, 42-32, Wednesday, Dec. 7.
The Lakers defeated Naples, Monday, Dec. 5. The final score was 60-15.

Wrestling (Avoca-Prattsburgh/Hammondsport)
The wrestling team beat Campbell-Savona 42-18, Wednesday, Dec. 7.
Winning in the match were Devin Stamets (118 - pin 3:10) and Nathan Young (126 - pin 3:31). The additional points were earned through forfeits..
