SPORTS RECAP: Week of 2-2-22

Dundee/Bradford
Wrestling
The Dundee-Bradford wrestling team beat Mynderse Academy, Thursday, Jan. 27. The final score was 48-30. The win captured the first-ever Finger Lakes West Championship in school history.
Competitive wins were recorded by Alex Leonard (pin-2:40), Connor Erick (pin-2:17), Caden Hill (pin-1:59), Logan Snyder (pin-2:47), Kaden LaBar (pin-2:51) and Travis Bailey (pin-1:09).

Boys Basketball
The Dundee-Bradford boys basketball team topped Honeoye 66-64, Thursday, Jan. 27.
The boys also beat Harley-Allendale Columbia 80-64, Tuesday, Jan. 25. Nick Slavick led the way with 19 points. Logan Salvatore had 17 points and Camden Rosemier had 15 points.

Girls Basketball
The Dundee-Bradford girls basketball team recorded two wins last week, bringing their season record to 12-1.
The girls hosted Honeoye, Friday, Jan. 28 and easily won 72-11. Hallie Knapp led with 17 points, seven rebounds and two steals. Kendall Parker added 13 points, with eight assists, four rebounds and six steals. Jade Roussell contributed 12 points with five rebounds and Nikki Peterson recorded 11 points and six steals. Mikayla Schoffner led with 12 rebounds.
The team also won over Harley-Allendale Columbia, Wednesday, Jan. 26. The final score was 48-24. Knapp paced the team with a double-double, having 15 points and 17 rebounds. Parker added nine points and five steals, while Kailey Yeoman and Schoffner each had eight points. Schoffner also grabbed 12 rebounds.

Bowling
The Dundee-Bradford bowling teams won over Honeoye, Tuesday, Jan. 25.
Jaedyn Brewer had a high series 485 and Abby Miller had a game-high 187 for the girls. Cameron Burke recorded a series-high 391 and game-high 138. The girls are now 30-5.

Indoor Track
The indoor track team participated in the Wayne-Finger Lakes championship at RIT, Saturday, Jan. 29. Top finishers included: Lily Hall, second, girls triple jump. Adalyn Tham, third, girls 300 meter dash. Camden Buchanan, second in the boys 55 meter dash and long jump and third in the triple jump. Michele Van Cleef, fourth, boys 55 meter dash and also fourth, boys 300 meter dash.

Penn Yan
Boys Basketball
The Penn Yan boys basketball team fell to Waterloo, Thursday, Jan. 27. The final score was 62-59, with Waterloo scoring on a buzzer-beating three-pointer off a full-court pass.
Griffin Emerson scored 29 points in the game. Oliver Connelly and Carter Earl each had 10 points.

Bowling
The Penn Yan boys and girls bowling teams defeated Wayne, Wednesday, Jan. 26. The boys won 5-0, while the girls won 3-2.
For the boys, Cameron Bassage led with a 608 and Trenton Samatulski followed up with a 607. Other scores included Colin Johnson (545) and Dutcher Samatulski (542).
The girls were led by Andy Kniffin with a 585. Anella Tillman added a 556 and Julia Maldonado had a 433.
The keglers also both beat Bloomfield, Tuesday, Jan. 25. The boys won 5-0, with a 605 by Bassage. Trenton Samatulski added a 561. The girls also won 5-0. Kniffin had a 695 and Tillman a 613.

Wrestling
Marcus Whitman/Penn Yan wrestler Jayden Reid finished seventh at the Walt Peterson Memorial Wrestling Tournament, Saturday, Jan. 29.
The wrestling team also defeated Geneva, 36-33, Thursday, Jan. 27.
The only competitive win was by Nick Murphy at 215 pounds, with a pin. The rest of the team's points came from forfeits.

Hammondsport
Boys Basketball
The Hammondsport boys basketball team lost three games last week. They fell to Romulus, 56-38; Addison, 77-53 and Mount Morris, 74-53. In the Mount Morris game, Cooper Watson led with 20 points and Ty Ritter had 16.

Girls Basketball
The Hammondsport girls basketball team defeated Scio/Friendship 60-39, Saturday, Jan. 29. The girls also fell to Addison, 44-27, Thursday, Jan. 27 and won to C.G. Finney, 68-49, Tuesday, Jan. 25.

Wrestling
The Avoca-Hammondsport wrestling team hosted the Walt Peterson Memorial Wrestling Tournament, Saturday, Jan. 29.
Nathan Young finished in third place with a 6-5 decision over Ryan Vedder. Jeremiah Robbins was fourth after falling in the consolation final to Damian Elliot.

Watkins Glen
Boys Basketball
The Watkins Glen boys basketball team defeated Notre Dame, Friday, Jan. 28. The final score was 57-56. Owen Scholtisek contributed 22 points for the Senecas. Cameron Holland had 13.
The boys also beat Candor, 46-28, Wednesday, Jan. 26. Mitchell Pike scored 12 points and Holland had 11.

Girls Basketball
The Watkins Glen girls basketball team lost to Lansing, Monday, Jan. 24. The final score was 53-32. Jenna Solomon recorded nine points and Rachel Vickio had eight.

Boys Swimming
The Watkins Glen-Odessa Montour swimming team topped Waverly 91-87, Friday, Jan. 28. First-place finishers included: Liam Smith (200 free and 500 free), Max Ricca (diving) and Ben Swinnerton (100 breaststroke).
The swimmers also beat Owego Free Academy, 78-67, Tuesday, Jan. 25.
Finishing in first place were the 200 medley relay team, Smith (200 free and 500 free), Jon Spencer (200 IM), Swinnerton (50 free), Ryan Dean (100 fly) and the 200 free relay team.

Odessa-Montour
Boys Basketball
The Odessa-Montour boys varsity basketball team lost to Newfield, Friday, Jan. 28. The final score was 84-32. Arden Heichel contributed eight points.
The basketball team also lost to Groton, 61-36, Wednesday, Jan. 26. Keith June paced the team with eight points.
OM lost to Southern Cayuga, 56-49, Tuesday, Jan. 25. Cayden Confer scored 20 points to lead the team.

Girls Basketball
The Odessa-Montour girls varsity basketball team beat Newfield, 47-21, Friday, Jan. 28. Hannah Nolan paced the team with 14 points and eight rebounds. Brittany Cooper and Mackenzie Cannon each scored nine points.

Wrestling
The Odessa-Montour/Watkins Glen wrestling team lost a close match to Chenango Valley, Thursday, Jan. 27. The team scores were 37-36.
Competitive wins were gained by Mark Waterman (pin-1:04) and Tristan Harrington (pin-0:26).
