SPORTS RECAP: Week of 3-24-21

Dundee Volleyball
The Dundee volleyball team won one match and lost another last week.
On Saturday, March 20, Dundee beat Honeoye. The game scores were 25-6, 25-16 and 25-8.
The girls lost to Bloomfield, Thursday, March 18. Dundee fell in three games, 11-25, 16-25 and 11-25.
Coach Amy Miller reported Dundee ended the first week with Makenzie Cratsley having 11 aces and six digs, Abby Miller with five aces and three kills, Hailey Decker six aces, Renae Gregory three aces and five assists, Hailey Strickland five aces and nine digs and Lily Hall with seven digs and two kills.

Penn Yan/Dundee Football
The combined Penn Yan and Dundee football team lost to Livonia in their first game of the season, Friday, March 19. The final score was 36-18.
Mekhi Mahan had 10 carries for 216 yards and three touchdowns.
Quarterback Carter Earl was 8-for-17 passing with 66 yards and one interception.
Kyler Lloyd and Julien Miller each had three receptions for 28 yards. Mahan had two for 10 yards.
On defense, Mahan led with 16 tackles. Nick Slavick recorded 10 tackles and Damien Snyder had eight with a fumble recovery. Kenny Empson and Lloyd each added six tackles.

Penn Yan Volleyball
The Penn Yan volleyball team fell to Waterloo, Friday, March 19. The game scores were 25-18, 25-20 and 25-18.
The team has four games this week including Hammondsport, Wayne, Newark and Bloomfield.

Hammondsport Volleyball
The Hammondsport volleyball team fell on the road against Wellsville, Friday, March 19. The game scores were 17-25, 8-25 and 15-25. Individual stats were not provided.
Hammondsport opened their season defeating Canisteo-Greenwood in four sets, 22-25, 25-14, 25-17, 25-23, Tuesday, March 16.
For Hammondsport, Danielle Bennett and Holley Kolo led at the service line with four aces and two and three kills respectively. Seneca Boscoe had three aces and four kills. Freshman setter Leah Starkweather had 12 setter assists.

Seneca Indians Football
The combined Watkins Glen and Odessa-Montour football team opened the season with a victory over Ithaca, Friday, March 20. The final score was 41-31.
Owen Scholtisek led with three touchdowns. He had 16 carries for 120 yards and three receptions for 69 yards.
Travon Jones recorded two touchdowns and had 17 carries for 180 yards in the game. He also had seven receptions for 97 yards.
Dominick Fazzary also added a touchdown rushing nine times for 63 yards.
Quarterback Cameron Holland was 9-for-15 passing with 164 yards and two touchdowns.

Girls Swimming
The Watkins Glen and Odessa-Montour girls swimming team defeated Lansing, 106-64, Thursday, March 18.
Finishing in first were: Faye Mooney, 200 freestyle and 100 breaststroke; Thalia Marquez, 200 IM and 100 free; Amanda Wilbur, 500 free and Alannah Klemann, 100 backstroke.
The 200 freestyle relay and 400 freestyle relay teams were also first. The teams included Mooney, Klemann, Marquez and Wilbur and Malina Butler, Kendra Fish, Skye Cummings and Megan Adams, respectively.

Watkins Glen Girls Soccer
The Watkins Glen soccer team beat Newfield, 4-0, Saturday, March 21.
Carly Arnold and Abby Gibson each had two goals apiece.
The Watkins Glen girls lost their first game of the season, Wednesday, March 17. The final score was 4-2, with Arnold and Gibson each recording goals.

Watkins Glen Boys Soccer
The Watkins Glen boys soccer team opened the season with a loss to Trumansburg, Thursday, March 18. The game went into overtime with a final score of 2-1. Stoyan Bond scored for Watkins.

Odessa-Montour Volleyball
The Odessa-Montour girls varsity volleyball team fell to Spencer-Van Etten, Saturday, March 20. The game scores were 12-25, 25-22, 12-25 and 21-25.
Haley Landon had six service points, five aces and one assist. Isabella Arlington recorded six service points and three aces. Jessica Carnes added four service points, one ace and one dig. Samantha Sipes had seven service points, four aces, two kills and one dig. Hali Daugherty recorded six service points, one ace, one kill and two digs. Madisyn Wells contributed two service points and four digs, while Emma Landon had two service points and two aces.

Odessa-Montour Girls Soccer
The Odessa-Montour girls soccer team opened the season with a victory over Tioga, Saturday, March 20. The final score was 5-2.
