SPORTS RECAP: Week of 4-13-22

Dundee-Bradford
Softball
The Dundee-Bradford softball team defeated Honeoye, 7-4, Wednesday, April 6.
Pitcher Addie Kendall stuck out four on the mound.
The BraveScots tallied seven hits in the game. Madison Sutryk and Mikayla Schoffner each managed two hits. Kendall scored a run on a single as did Schoffner. Abigail Miller had a double that scored two runs.

Baseball
The Dundee-Bradford baseball team lost to visiting Honeoye, Wednesday, April 6. The final score was 7-4. Individual stats were not provided.

Penn Yan
Boys Lacrosse
The Penn Yan boys lacrosse team lost to Carthage, 9-7, Saturday, April 9.
Recording two goals each were Frank Ochoa, Teagen Fingar and Carter Earl. Bryant VanHousen scored once. Tukker Fisher and Fingar also each added an assist.
In the cage, Griffin Emerson made 11 saves.
The boys home opener against Bloomfield/Honeoye was postponed due to a lack of officials, Thursday, April 7. Both teams were on the field and the National Anthem was played before it was announced the game could not be played.

Girls Lacrosse
The Penn Yan girls lacrosse team fell to Homer, Friday, April 8. The final score was 14-6. Bailey Cooper and Kaley Griffin each had two goals. Avery Castner and Corinne Barden added one goal and one assist each.
The girls also lost to Waterloo, 8-7, Wednesday, April 6. Castner led with three goals and one assist. Maihue Miranda-Wiltberger, Cooper, Griffin and Jammie Decker all scored one goal. Hannah Parsons made six saves in goal.

Baseball
The Penn Yan Mustangs traveled to Seneca Falls on Tuesday, April 5 for their first league game of the season and came out on top by a score of 6-4. Offensively, the Mustangs had hits from Liam Chapman, Alex Foster and Reed Bouchard but the bigger story was the 12 walks and three hit batters that Penn Yan took advantage of to help secure the win. Sophomore Brady Bouchard earned his first win of the season striking out eight and only allowing one walk.
Penn Yan opened their season at home on Monday, April 4 with an exciting 8-7 win over Bloomfield. The Mustangs were led by Chapman, who went 1-2 at the plate with a three-run home run. Tyler Bouchard had two RBIs and scored the winning run on a wild pitch in the bottom of the seventh. Reed Bouchard also had a good day at the plate with two doubles and one run scored. The offense was capped by Foster and Liam Griffiths who each had one hit. Penn Yan used an array of pitchers that included starter Brady Emerson, Brigham Hansen, Reed Bouchard, Derek Allison and Foster who got the win for the Mustangs.

Softball
The Penn Yan softball team defeated Mynderse, 4-2, Tuesday, April 5. Giana Ficcaglia had 11 strikeouts on the mound and connected at the plate for a triple.
"This was a great first game for us," said coach Melissa Armsden. "In the first inning we had a couple of errors but the girls picked themselves up and kept fighting. There is room for improvement as we are in the first days of our season, but the energy is high and the girls are ready to run."

Boys Tennis
The Penn Yan tennis team fell to Harley-Allendale Columbia, 5-0, Tuesday, April 5. In the third singles match, Penn Yan's Kyle Wheeler had set scores of 7-5, 6-2 against Jeremy Lee.
The tennis team won against North Rose-Wolcott, 3-2, Monday, April 4. Landon Spears won 6-4, 6-3, Alex Reyes-Leon, 6-3, 6-1 and Wheeler 5-7, 7-5, 6-4 in the singles matches.

Hammondsport
Baseball
The Hammondsport baseball team lost to Arkport-Canaseraga, Tuesday, April 5. The final score was 16-2. The team also fell to Avoca-Prattsburgh, 11-0, Monday, April 4. Individual stats were not reported.

Softball
The Hammondsport softball team fell to Arkport-Caneseraga, 17-11, Tuesday, April 5. The team defeated Naples, 28-12, Monday, April 4. Individual stats were not reported.

Watkins Glen/Odessa-Montour Baseball
The combined Watkins Glen/Odessa-Montour baseball team fell to Waverly, 7-2, Friday, April 8. Alex Holmes had four strikeouts on the mound for the Seneca Indians.
The baseball team defeated Waverly 11-1, Wednesday, April 6. Dominick Fazzary had two RBIs on two hits as did Daniel Lewis. Lewis also added seven strikeouts on the mound.

Watkins Glen
Softball
The Watkins Glen softball team fell to Spencer-Van Etten, 15-0, Friday, April 8. Brenna Pierce was pitching and Lois Hosley catching for the Senecas.
The team also fell to Thomas A. Edison, 15-0, Wednesday, April 6.

Lacrosse
The Watkins Glen lacrosse team fell to Whitney Point, 15-4, Thursday, April 6.

Tennis
The Watkins Glen tennis team competed against Union Springs/Port Byron, Wednesday, April 6. The final score was 3-2. Winning for Watkins were Jason Murphy (7-5, 6-2), Noah Gardner (6-3, 4-6, 6-4), and Skylar Lagramada and Katrina Ricca (6-0, 6-1).

Odessa-Montour
Softball
The Odessa-Montour softball team fell to Spencer-Van Etten, 22-0, Wednesday, April 6. The team also lost to Candor, 24-2, Monday, April 4.
