SPORTS RECAP: Week of 4-14-21

Odessa-Montour Boys Soccer
The Odessa-Montour boys soccer team lost to Trumansburg, 6-2, Thursday, April 8.
The boys fell to Newfield, 4-2, Tuesday, April 6. Arden Heichel and Cam Elliott scored for Odessa.

Odessa-Montour Girls Soccer
The Odessa-Montour girls soccer team defeated Newfield, Wednesday, April 7. The final score was 7-2.
Autumn Garrison had two assists and two goals. Hannah Nolan also had two goals. Lilly Betts recorded one goal on a header off of a corner kick. Kelsey Bates added one goal.
Editor's note: Newfield scored on themselves to bring the goal total in the game to seven for Odessa.
Goaltenders Keyonna Garrison had four saves and Eliza Starkweather had two.
The girls also beat Marathon in overtime 6-5, Monday, April 5.
Betts had three goals in the game. Garrison, Gina Gavich and Katie Adams each had one.

Girls Swimming
The Watkins Glen and Odessa-Montour girls swimming team defeated Whitney Point, Tuesday, April 6. The final score was 76-21, however Whitney Point only had two swimmers who recorded official times. There were five exhibition races and no competition for relays.
Recording a competitive win in the match was Thalia Marquez in the 50 free with a time of 26.90. Sarah Stopinski took second in the race with a 30.72.
Annaleise Beckley was second in the 200 free (2:48.22), Taryn Hoyt was second in the 100 free (1:43.59) and Claire Lewis was second in the 500 free (8:05.84).

Dundee Volleyball
The Dundee volleyball team defeated Midlakes and Honeoye but lost to Harley-Allendale Columbia last week.
The girls beat Midlakes 3-1, Wednesday, April 7. The game scores were 26-24, 22-25, 25-11, 25-6.
Abby Miller recorded six kills, six aces and one block. Lily Hall had two kills, six assists, 2.5 blocks and six aces. Hailey Strickland contributed three kills, one block and seven digs. Makenzie Cratsley had two kills, six aces and four digs. Tianna Strickland added four kills, four assists, 0.5 blocks and five digs.
After the game, coach Amy Miller said, "Dundee played with incredible energy. It was an impressive show of teamwork!"
Dundee beat Honeoye, 25-13, 25-20, 25-13, Tuesday, April 6.
The Lady Scots lost to HAC in four games, Monday, April 5. The scores were 25-19, 14-25, 14-25, 12-25.
Miller had four kills, two aces and two digs. Hall recorded one kill, two assists, one block and two digs. Hailey Strickland added three kills, four aces, one block and two digs, while Cratsley had seven aces and two digs.

Penn Yan Volleyball
The Penn Yan volleyball team defeated Hammondsport but lost to Waterloo and Palmyra-Macedon last week.
Against Hammondsport, Penn Yan won 3-0 with game scores of 25-15, 25-10, 25-22, Thursday, April 8. Jammie Decker had seven aces, nine kills, and seven digs, followed by setter Hailey Trank with 17 assists and five digs.
The Mustangs lost in four games to Waterloo, Wednesday, April 7. The scores were 25-22, 11-25, 18-25, 13-25. Decker recorded four aces, eight kills, two blocks and 13 digs. Trank had one ace, four kills, 13 assists and 11 digs.
Penn Yan lost 3-0 to Pal-Mac, Monday, April 5. Lauren Schilling had four aces, two kills and six digs for the Mustangs. Decker added one ace, four kills and seven digs. Trank had one ace, two kills, nine assists and 11 digs.

Hammondsport Volleyball
The Hammondsport varsity volleyball team lost to Penn Yan and defeated Canisteo-Greenwood last week.
On Thursday, April 8, the Lakers fell in three games, 15-25, 10-25, 22-25 to Penn Yan. Holley Kolo led with four aces and five kills followed by Seneca Boscoe with three aces and five kills.
Hammondsport beat Canisteo-Greenwood in four games, Tuesday, April 6. The final scores were 20-25, 25-23, 25-21 and 25-13.

Penn Yan/Dundee Football
The Penn Yan and Dundee combined football team lost a close game to an undefeated Bath Haverling team, Wednesday, April 7. The final score was 38-35.
Quarterback Carter Earl was 18-for-32 with 217 yards and three touchdowns. He also had 12 carries for 95 yards and a two-point conversion.
Mekhi Mahan led the team on the ground and through the air with 13 carries for 111 yards and five receptions for 123 yards. He had one rushing touchdown with a two-point conversion and had two touchdowns on receptions.
Kenny Empson Jr. added two carries for 18 yards and a touchdown. Damien Snyder completed the scoring with three receptions for 39 yards and a touchdown.
On defense, Mahan recorded 12 tackles. Nick Slavic had 10, Mason Petersen eight and Empson seven. Kyler Lloyd added five tackles as did Snyder. Alex Foster contributed with a fumble recovery and a tackle.
The football team plays Marcus Whitman/Bloomfield Tuesday, April 13.
