SPORTS RECAP: Week of 5-4-22

Penn Yan
Baseball
The Penn Yan Mustangs traveled to Pal-Mac on Friday night for a Finger Lakes East match-up. The Red Raiders were undefeated and hadn't allowed a run all season, outscoring their opponents 82-0. Sophomore Brady Bouchard pitched seven innings for the Mustangs only allowing one run on three hits and striking out eight and walking two.
The game was tied after seven innings at one run apiece. The Mustangs came out in the top of the eighth with a leadoff single by Riley Griffiths. With two outs Senior Tyler Bouchard hit a double down the left field line scoring Griffiths. Reed Bouchard followed that up with an RBI single that scored his brother.
Penn Yan went into the bottom of the eighth up 3-1. Reed Bouchard pitched the bottom half of the eighth inning surrendering three runs. The final score was Pal-Mac 4, Mustangs 3.
Penn Yan was led offensively by Reed Bouchard who was 2-for-4 with 2 RBIs and Tyler Bouchard who had a double and RBI. Other Mustangs that recorded hits were Griffiths and Brigham Hansen.
The baseball team faced Waterloo and won 9-1, Wednesday, April 27. The Mustangs strong pitching performance continued with sophomore Liam Chapman throwing five innings, with eight strikeouts, four walks and allowing one run. Junior Brady Emerson pitched two innings of scoreless baseball in relief recording two strikeouts for the Mustangs.
The Mustang bats continued to stay hot with 14 hits on the evening, including five doubles. Chapman, Brady Bouchard, Tyler Bouchard, Emerson, and Michael Layton all doubled with Brady Bouchard having three runs batted in.

Softball
The Penn Yan softball team lost to Haverling 7-4, Thursday, April 28. Giana Figgaglia had 11 strikeouts for the Mustangs and was 3-for-4 at the plate. Hailey Trank was 4-for-4.
The girls defeated Waterloo, 8-6, Wednesday, April 27. Elle Harrison recorded a three-run homer in the third inning. Leah Prather doubled in the fourth inning with 2 RBIs. Ficcaglia had seven strikeouts.
The softball team also beat Newark 7-1, Monday, April 25. Ficcaglia notched 17 strikeouts. Jayden Hollister had two RBIs in the second inning, while Trank recorded a 2-RBI triple in the fourth.

Boys Lacrosse
The Penn Yan lacrosse team defeated Newark, 14-1, Saturday, April 30. Teagen Fingar and Tukker Fisher each had three goals and three assists in the game. Frank Ochoa and Carter Earl each scored twice. Griffin Emerson made three saves and Will Thompson one.
The Mustangs also topped Gananda, 18-3, Thursday, April 28. Ochoa led with five goals, while Fingar added three goals and four assists. Fisher also added three goals and one assist. Emerson recorded three saves and Thompson had four.
Penn Yan started their winning week by defeating Mynderse, Tuesday, April 26. The final score was 13-3. Fisher had three goals and three assists. Earl and Fingar each earned two goals and two assists. Emerson made four saves and Thompson had one in the cage.

Girls Lacrosse
The Penn Yan girls lacrosse team beat Gananda-Marion, 18-2, Friday, April 29. Bailey Cooper led with three goals and three assists in the game. Corinne Barden, Ruby Berry, Irelynd Densmore and Gianna Voigt each netted two goals apiece. Parsons made three saves in the goal.
The girls also topped Mynderse-Romulus, 15-2, Wednesday, April 27. Cooper led with five goals. Barden, Avery Castner, Kaley Griffin and Taylor Mullins each scored two goals in the game. Parsons recorded four saves, while Marion Wheeler had three.
The Mustangs fell to Mercy, Monday, April 25. The final score was 12-9. Barden and Cooper each earned three goals and one assist. Parsons made 10 saves.

Track and Field
The Penn Yan track and field team competed at the Attica Boosters Invitational, Friday, April 29. Leading the team were:
James Tette was second in the 3,000 meter steeplechase and fourth in the 3,200 meter run. Gabe Hopkins was sixth in the shot put. Anthony Wheeler was sixth in the pentathlon and Anthony Sciallo took ninth in the discus throw.
Adriana Rodriguez was fifth in the shot put and ninth in the discus. Ava Vogt was ninth in the high jump. Jenna Reynolds finished 15th in the 800 meter run.

Boys Tennis
The Penn Yan tennis team lost to Palmyra-Macedon 3-2, Friday, April 29. Recording wins were Alex Reyes-Leon (3-6, 6-1, 6-2) and Kyle Wheeler (6-4, 6-3).
The team also fell to Naples, 5-0, Tuesday, April 26.

Dundee-Bradford
Baseball
The Dundee-Bradford baseball team lost to Bloomfield, 2-1, in a close game, Saturday, April 30. Tyler Spina struck out three on the mound. Gabe Stiles had two hits in three at-bats.
The baseball team lost to Harley Allendale Columbia, Friday, April 29. The final score was 8-2. Logan Snyder was 2-for-3 at the plate.
The BraveScots defeated Naples, Tuesday, April 26. The final score was 16-5. Cam Rosemier had three strikeouts pitching. Aiden Monell and Spina had three hits to lead the team.

Softball
The Dundee-Bradford softball team fell to Addison 4-1, Monday, April 25. Madison Sutryk had two hits in the game. Morgan Sutryk struck out 10 on the mound.

Track and Field
The Dundee track and field team hosted a five-school meet, Tuesday, April 26. Results were not available at press time.

Hammondsport
Baseball
The Hammondsport baseball team lost three games last week. The Lakers fell to Naples 14-2, Canisteo-Greenwood/Jasper-Troupsburg 13-0 and Alfred Almond 15-8.

Softball
The Hammondsport softball team lost to Avoca-Prattsburgh, Thursday, April 28. The final score was 6-5. The girls also fell to Alfred-Almond, Monday, April 25. The score was 17-6.

Track and Field
The Hammondsport track and field team competed at the Ferd Stenta Invitational, Friday, April 29. Leading the team were:
Alex Brown was sixth in the boys 400 meter dash. Lucas Lampman took fifth in the 110 meter hurdles and was sixth in the boys 400 meter hurdles.
Emmy O'Neill finished seventh in the girls 1,500 meter, and Gabrielle Doyle was 11th. Arielle Szathmary 10th in the 200 meter dash took 11th in the girls 100 meter dash.

Watkins Glen
Lacrosse
The Watkins Glen lacrosse team defeated Oneonta, Saturday, April 30 at home. The final score was 5-4. Garett VanOstrand and Devin Searle each had two goals. Nick Ritter added one. Nick D'Alleva contributed two assists. Teagan Lampman Roisen made eight saves on the day.

Watkins Glen
Softball
The Watkins Glen softball team fell to Newfield, Friday, April 29. The final score was 16-12. Brenna Pierce was on the mound for the Senecas and Lois Hosley was catching.
The softball team also lost to Waverly, 19-1, Wednesday, April 27.

Track
The Watkins Glen track and field team traveled to the Legends of the Night invitational at Trumansburg, Friday, April 29. Ross Pentz was the top finisher, recording a third place in the shot put throw.

Tennis
The Watkins Glen tennis team lost to Waverly 3-2, Thursday, April 28. The two wins came from Jason Murphy in singles and Skylar Lagramada and Douglas DiGregorio in doubles.

Watkins Glen/Odessa-Montour Baseball
The Seneca Indians baseball team lost to Dryden, 8-5, Thursday, April 28. Bradley Gillis, Cameron Holland and Adam Pastore each had two hits. Pastore also added two RBIs. Daniel Lewis recorded seven strikeouts on the mound.

Odessa-Montour
Softball
The Odessa-Montour softball team lost to Notre Dame, Thursday, April 28. The score was 17-2.
The softball team also fell to Tioga 19-1, Tuesday, April 26.

Track
The Odessa-Montour track and field team traveled to the Legends of the Night invitational at Trumansburg, Friday, April 29. Jed Lynch led the team with a first place in the pole vault.
