SPORTS RECAP: Week of 9-29-21

Penn Yan-Dundee Football
The Penn Yan-Dundee football team defeated Midlakes on Penn Yan's homecoming weekend, Saturday, Sept. 25. The final score was 41-26.
Quarterback Carter Earl was 13-for-17 passing with 168 yards and two touchdowns. He also ran eight times for 114 yards and two touchdowns.
Nick Slavick led the ground game with 15 carries for 128 yards and a touchdown. Bryant Van Housen also contributed a touchdown on an 11-yard run.
Ashtian Dunning brought in 5 passes for 54 yards and one touchdown. Jay Littell had three receptions for 39 yards and Slavick had one for 38 yards and a touchdown.
On defense, Kaden LaBar made 10 tackles and had one sack. Hayden Erick and Slavick added eight tackles. Anthony Druker made six, while Mason Petersen had five tackles and one sack. Dunning also recorded an interception with three tackles.

Dundee-Bradford Boys Soccer
The Dundee-Bradford boys soccer team tied Waterloo, Thursday, Sept. 23, 0-0. The boys had 22 shots, five corner kicks and two saves were made in goal.
The team defeated Honeoye 3-1, Tuesday, Sept. 21. Scoring for Dundee-Bradford was Logan Ayers, Aiden Monell and Jacopo Paniga. Assisting was Josep Bustamante.

Dundee-Bradford Girls Soccer
The Dundee-Bradford girls soccer team fell to Bloomfield, 6-1, Friday, Sept. 24. Individual stats were not available from the game.
The girls topped Red Jacket, Wednesday, Sept. 22. The final score was 6-1. Madison Hughes scored twice in the game as did Kendall Parker. Additional goals were recorded by Korrin Yeoman and Hayden Morrison. Assisting were Nicole Peterson, Yeoman, Hughes and Morrison. Gabrielle Tobiassen-Aasli made seven saves in goal.

Dundee-Bradford Volleyball
The Dundee-Bradford volleyball team beat Penn Yan, Friday, Sept. 24 in four games. The scores were 22-25, 25-18, 25-18, 28-26.
Carlie Baker had 15 kills and four aces. Lily Hall added two aces, 20 assists and nine kills. Mikayla Schoffner recorded five kills, while Hayley Herrick and Abby Miller each had three kills.
The team beat South Seneca in four games, Wednesday, Sept. 22. The scores were 25-11, 20-25, 25-15, 25-21.
Hall had two aces, 23 assists, four kills and one block. Baker recorded three aces and 10 kills. Abby Miller had four aces and three kills. Schoffner added nine aces and 12 kills and Herrick had six service points, two aces and four kills.

Penn Yan Cross Country
The Penn Yan cross country team held a home meet, Tuesday, Sept. 21. The only result available was Mustang runner JD Tette finished in first place for the boys.

Penn Yan Golf
The Penn Yan golf team lost to Wayne 228-272, Thursday, Sept. 23.
The team also fell to Geneva 238-265, Monday, Sept. 20. Griffin Emerson had the low 47 for the Mustangs.

Penn Yan Boys Soccer
The Penn Yan boys soccer team lost to Wayne 1-0, Thursday, Sept. 23.
The Mustangs shut out Waterloo, Monday, Sept. 20. The final score was 5-0. Kaden Steele had two goals and Landon Berry, Zackary Townley and Alex Reyes Leon each recorded one. Assists in the game were registered by David Reid, Dylan Hassos, Brigham Hansen, Joe Droney and Owen Bishop.
Thomas Barden made five saves.

Penn Yan Girls Soccer
The Penn Yan girls soccer team lost to Wayne, 2-1, Friday, Sept. 24. Sierra Harrison scored unassisted for Penn Yan. Elle Harrison had seven saves.
The girls defeated Geneva, Monday, Sept. 20, 4-0. Sierra Harrison scored three times and Emma Eichenhofer once. Morgan Andersen added two assists, Maihue Miranda-Wiltberger and Sierra Harrison each had one.
Elle Harrison recorded seven saves in the goal.

Penn Yan Tennis
The Penn Yan tennis team defeated Palmyra-Macedon, 3-2, Monday, Sept. 20. The following players had wins: Abigail Garvey 6-1, 6-0; Jayden Hollister 6-1, 6-4 and Adelyn Emerson 7-5, 5-7, 6-1.

Penn Yan Volleyball
The Penn Yan volleyball team lost to Dundee, Friday, Sept. 24. The scores were 25-21, 18-25, 18-25, 26-28. Lauren Schilling had two aces and nine digs. Jammie Decker added two aces, 14 kills, one block and eight digs. Alexis Parsons contributed two aces, two kills, two blocks and three digs.
The team defeated Pal-Mac, 3-0, Tuesday, Sept. 21. The game scores were 25-15, 25-20, 25-13. Faith Baker had four aces, two kills, one assist and five digs. Hailey Trank notched one ace, one kill, 10 assists and one block. Decker added two aces, six kills, one assist and six digs.

Hammondsport Boys Soccer
The Hammondsport boys soccer team lost to Addison 4-0, Friday, Sept. 24. The team recorded three shots, two corner kicks and 31 saves in the game.

Hammondsport Girls Soccer
The Hammondsport girls soccer team fell to Arkport, 8-0, Friday, Sept. 24. The Lakers also lost to Alfred-Almond, 7-0, Wednesday, Sept. 22. Rorie Whitcomb had 13 saves in the goal.
The team also lost to Friendship/Scio, Monday, Sept. 20. The final score was 3-2. Hannah Hoerter scored both goals with one assist from Gabrielle Doyle. Whitcomb made four saves.

Hammondsport Volleyball
The Hammondsport volleyball team lost to Houghton Academy, Friday, Sept. 24. The game scores were 21-25, 7-25, 17-25.
The team beat Campbell-Savona in five games, Wednesday, Sept. 22. The scores were 25-8, 25-22, 22-25, 25-27, 25-23. Seneca Boscoe and Emily Starkweather were strong at the line with eight and five aces respectively. Holley Kolo and Boscoe also had seven and six kills.
"The girls came together in the last set to overcome an unexpected lineup change, they worked hard against a strong hitting team," said coach Erica Webster.

Seneca Indians Football
The Seneca Indians captured a home victory against Oneonta, 27-6, Friday, Sept. 24.
Quarterback Cameron Holland was 10-for-16 passing with 226 yards and two touchdowns.
Owen Scholtisek had nine carries for 40 yards including a touchdown and four receptions for 61 yards. Travon Jones added eight carries for 50 yards and three receptions for 90 yards. He had a touchdown both running a receiving. Dominick Fazzary contributed 13 carries for 39 yards and had one reception for 21 yards. Adam Pastore also had two receptions for 25 yards including a touchdown. Cayden Confer added one catch for 16 yards.
On defense, Jacob Menzi had four tackles, Daniel Ely three and Pastore also three.

Watkins Glen Cross Country
The Watkins Glen cross country team competed at Owego Free Academy, Saturday, Sept. 25. Johnny VanScoyk finished 18th, Dominic Gublo was 28th, Nicholas Bonsignore 52nd and Jonathan Bond-Trimble 58th.

Watkins Glen Boys Soccer
The Watkins Glen boys soccer team fell to Newfield, 14-1 Saturday, Sept. 25.

Watkins Glen Girls Soccer
The Watkins Glen girls soccer team beat Tioga, 6-0, Wednesday, Sept. 22. Sasha Honrath, Skye Honrath, Olivia King, Maddie Tuttle, Abby Gibson and Jennifer Gublo each scored. Lilly Ameigh made three saves.

Watkins Glen/Odessa-Montour Swimming
The Watkins Glen and Odessa-Montour swimming team finished fourth in the 2021 Girls Invitational in the Glen held Friday and Saturday last week.
Thalia Marquez won the 100 free (55.59) and 200 free in 2:00.58.
Faye Mooney was first in the 100 breaststroke (1:12.22) and second in the 50 free.
The 200 free relay team was second in 1:47.23 and included Mooney, Malina Butler, Alannah Klemann and Marquez.
The swimming team also beat Southern Cayuga 93-67, Tuesday, Sept. 21. Finishing first were: the 200 medley relay team, Marquez (200 free and 500 free), Kendra Fish (200 IM and 100 butterfly), Mooney (50 free and 100 breaststroke), Klemann (100 free and 100 back) and the 200 free relay team.

Watkins Glen Volleyball
The Watkins Glen volleyball team topped Odessa-Montour, Thursday, Sept. 23. The match was a 3-1 decision. Melanie Wysocki recorded 12 service points, five aces, two digs and one kill in the game. Colby Thurston added 11 service points, with six aces, four digs and three kills. Ava Barber had 10 service points and two aces.
The Watkins Glen volleyball team lost to Candor, 3-0, Wednesday, Sept. 22.

Odessa-Montour Boys Soccer
The Odessa-Montour boys soccer team lost to Tioga, 5-4, Saturday, Sept. 25.
The team also lost to Trumansburg, 5-1, Thursday, Sept. 23.

Odessa-Montour Girls Soccer
The Odessa-Montour girls soccer team beat Tioga, 5-1, Friday, Sept. 24. Hannah Nolan and Eliza Starkweather each scored twice in the game. Tori Brewster had a single goal for Odessa and Haley Albertsman an assist. In the goal, Keyonna Garrison made four saves and Starkweather had two.
The soccer team also won against Newfield, 5-2, Wednesday, Sept. 22.
Nolan had four goals and Brewster one with two assists. Katie Adams and Kelsey Bates also added assists. Garrison made four saves in goal.

Odessa-Montour Volleyball
The Odessa-Montour volleyball team lost to Watkins Glen, 3-1, Thursday, Sept. 23. Kyleigh Bates led with eight service points, four aces, two digs and one assist. Emma Landon had eight kills, five service points, two aces and one dig.
The Odessa volleyball team lost to Edison, 3-0, Wednesday, Sept. 22. The game scores were 18-25, 16-25, 8-25.
The volleyball team also fell to Tioga, 3-0, Monday, Sept. 20. Landon had four service points, two aces, one kill and one dig.
